Dana White Breaks Silence on Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua: "You Don't Have to Be Rocket Scientists"
Dana White shared an update on the Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua fight, taking a subtle dig at team AJ.
Recently, the talk about Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua has been going back and forth. At times, it seems the fight is close to happening, while at other times, it looks like it could fall apart. Earlier, Fury thanked Dana White and credited him for making this happen. Meanwhile, he called Eddie Hearn jealous. Subsequently, the talk of it happening soon fizzled out, and now Dana White has reacted to it and taken a subtle dig at Hearn. As per the UFC CEO, the Matchroom promoter is responsible for the setback.
Dana White Reacts to Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua Delay
Back in June, after the Chris Billam-Smith fight in Bournemouth, White told reporters to wait for the next 30 days. Later, he said TKO had already taken care of the TV deal and the venue. Tyson Fury also thanked White for helping make the Netflix deal happen and said he helped get the Joshua fight closer to happening.
Meanwhile, White has talked about the Fury vs. Joshua fight. He said there is an obvious problem stopping the fight from happening, but he did not say what the problem is. Because he did not give a name, it sounds like he is blaming Joshua’s side.
“My update would be, Tyson, thank you for all the kind words. I mean guys, you don't have to be fucking rocket scientists to see what's going on here. I’ve been saying the same thing since Bournemouth,” White said.
TKO and Netflix want the fight at Madison Square Garden, while Joshua’s team wants Wembley. Hearn says Joshua’s contract was signed for a fight in Britain, so moving it to New York would mean changing the deal. Fury reportedly has no such location rule in his contract, which is why he agreed to the US plan. This has also caused more frustration between Fury, Joshua, and Hearn.
Tyson Fury Could Fight Oleksandr Usyk
Fury and Oleksandr Usyk both want to fight each other for the third time. Usyk called Fury out again, and Fury also said he wants the trilogy. So, it looks like we could see Fury vs. Usyk 3 soon. In Fury’s words, “Let’s do the trilogy. Two real men who will fight. I’m sick to death of sh*thouses.”
Usyk has won both fights, so this will be a huge challenge for Fury. After coming out of retirement, this could be the biggest fight of Fury’s career.
