Afterward, speaking to the press, Ribovics blamed a strange situation in his hotel room for the miss.
"Someone turned on the air conditioner, and I stopped sweating," Ribovics explained when asked about his final attempt to make weight fell short.
Furthermore, he arrived at the official weigh-ins looking visibly drained, attempting to shed the remaining weight, including removing his shorts behind a privacy curtain. Unfortunately, he still couldn't reach the 156-pound limit.
Ribovics Pays the Price Before Stopping Green
Although Ribovics missed weight, the UFC lightweight clash still took place. His opponent, Green, received a check, in which 20 percent of Ribovics' fight purse was transferred to Green as compensation for the weight miss.
However, despite the fine, Ribovics got the job done inside the Octagon, showing a solid performance. He landed several left-hand blows to Green before scoring a first-round TKO at 4:08. The victory successfully marked his second straight stoppage after his August win over Edson Barboza.
After defeating Barboza, Ribovics apologized to the crowd for missing weight, acknowledging the situation calmly while adding that he was excited about his newest major victory.
The 30-year-old fighter entered UFC 332 with a 16-3 record and left with an improved record of 17-3, continuing his momentum in the lightweight division.
