Fernando Vargas's son Amado Vargas scores huge KO after being kicked out of ring at BKB 57: Anarchy
The Vargas brothers shined in their thrilling bare-knuckle boxing debuts, under the watchful eyes of father Fernando Vargas, at BKB 57: Anarchy.
Amado Vargas made waves with his bare-knuckle boxing debut at the BKB 57: Anarchy event, which transpired at the Indigo at The O2 in London, England, on July 25.
The 26-year-old Amado was one of the two Vargas brothers who competed in their maiden bare-knuckle boxing matches at the BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing organization's show. His elder brother and fellow professional boxer, the 29-year-old Fernando Vargas Jr., also competed at BKB 57: Anarchy.
The brothers have been looking to follow in the footsteps of their father, boxing legend and Hall of Famer Fernando Vargas Sr., who achieved tremendous success in the sport of professional boxing.
Vargas Sr. is a former IBF and WBA super welterweight champion in the realm of professional boxing, i.e., gloved boxing. The retired Mexican-American boxer last fought in 2007 and has lately earned praise for mentoring his sons for their careers as pugilists.
Amado Vargas gets kicked out of the Trigon, returns to score thunderous KO over James Springer at BKB 57: Anarchy
The war of words between Amado Vargas (13-0, 6 KOs pro boxing) and his British opponent, James Springer, was marked by intensity and promises of ruthless violence. Well, many fans have pointed out that their super featherweight fight did deliver on that promise.
Although both fighters boasted adequate experience in the gloved boxing sphere and were making their bare-knuckle boxing debuts, neither shied away from engaging in prolonged dirty boxing battles inside the clinch. They even out-grappled one another to the mat on a few occasions.
Amado Vargas seemed to be getting the better of the striking exchanges, however, and cut open his foe to the face. A turning point came when Springer shoved him to the canvas along the ropes and kicked him out of the Trigon, which is the BKB ring.
Vargas seemed unfazed, however, getting up and dancing -- seemingly playing to the fans while fighting in his opponent's country. He made his way back to the ring and proceeded to secure a knockdown of his English rival.
It was followed by another knockdown, comprising a left to the body and right to the chin that knocked his foe out. Amado Vargas thereby emerged victorious by KO at the 2:09-minute mark of the very first round. He and Springer seemed to bury the hatchet thereafter.

Fernando Vargas Jr. puts on a disciplined performance in TKO win over Gary Allen
Fernando Vargas Jr. (17-1, 15 KOs pro boxing) also made his first walk to the bare-knuckle boxing ring at BKB 57: Anarchy. Fernando's fight came after his younger brother had dominantly won his own matchup.
The older Vargas brother took on fellow gloved boxing veteran Gary Allen in a super welterweight match, which co-headlined the fight card.
A number of netizens highlighted that Fernando, ironically, adopted a much different approach than Amado did. Fernando chose to steer clear of prolonged clinching and dirty boxing in that position -- instead striking his foe from long-range.
England's Allen attempted to negate his Mexican-American rival's seemingly superior technical boxing prowess by wading in to make it a gritty fight. But Fernando held his nerve and kept catching him, albeit he did get hit with a few strikes toward the end of round one.
Nevertheless, round two saw Fernando continue his slick movement, with seamless footwork and head movement, to evade oncoming punches and repeatedly tag Allen en route to a TKO win at the 1:20-minute mark of the second round.
The bare-knuckle boxing venture of Amado Vargas and Fernando Vargas Jr., incidentally, happens to have come just days after another notable professional boxer, Victor Ortiz, chose to test himself in the BKB's famed Trigon. Ortiz also captivated fans with his gritty bare-knuckle boxing display, headlining BKB 56 in Los Angeles.
As of this time, the consensus is that the Vargas brothers are likely to continue competing in both professional boxing and bare-knuckle boxing.
