“He was a bit of a sore loser about it”: Michael Bisping calls out Alex Pereira after Ciryl Gane loss
Michael Bisping has criticized Alex Pereira’s reaction to his loss against Ciryl Gane and called 'Poatan' a “sore loser” while defending Gane’s victory.
Alex Pereira has been demanding a rematch with Ciryl Gane after his knockout loss to him at UFC Freedom 250 in the interim UFC heavyweight title fight.
He repeatedly claimed that Gane landed illegal shots to the back of his head, arguing that referee Herb Dean should have intervened. The former light heavyweight champion believes that if given another opportunity against the interim heavyweight champion, he will prove himself and secure the interim title.
Many believe Gane landed some illegal shots, but even if he hadn’t, Pereira might not have survived the finishing sequence. The former UFC middleweight champion, Michael Bisping, feels the same and shared his thoughts on the Brazilian’s loss.
Michael Bisping believes Alex Pereira was simply beaten by Ciryl Gane
In his recent YouTube video, Bisping reacted to Pereira's latest Instagram video, in which he demanded a rematch against Gane, and emphasized that this fight makes sense again, citing his point about illegal shots.
While Bisping has a contradicting opinion and believes that Gane won fairly, the controversy should not take anything away from the Frenchman’s dominant victory. He highlighted the finishing sequence and acknowledged a few misplaced shots, but stressed that the Brazilian was beaten badly.
“Alex Pereira took on Ciryl Gane and was soundly beaten in the second round, and I think we can all agree that—yeah, okay—there might have been a couple of back-of-the-head shots, and Ciryl Gane didn’t cheat,” Bisping said. “He won impressively. He dropped him with a jab, then he dropped some elbows, and maybe a couple of them were misplaced. But Pereira got back to his feet. He worked up. He showed a lot of heart, but then he got battered. He got beaten badly.”
The former UFC middleweight champion also emphasized that his comments were not meant to reflect any dislike toward Pereira. Bisping praised what the Brazilian has brought to the UFC but also accused ‘Poatan' of being a sore loser following his defeat to Gane.
He argued that the Brazilian continued to focus on the controversial shots rather than accept the loss.
“I’m not saying that as a guy that dislikes Alex Pereira. I’ve got nothing against Alex Pereira. I think he’s incredible for the sport and what he brings to the octagon—the excitement that he brings, the frequency of his fights. Everything about Alex Pereira is what the UFC wants, and it’s what we want to see as fight fans. But he went on a bit of a campaign afterwards where, I’ll be honest, he was a bit of a sore loser about it,” Bisping said.

With Pereira actively pursuing a rematch against Gane to settle a score, it remains to be seen if the UFC would be interested in the rematch. That said, UFC heavyweight star Josh Hokit believes the Brazilian should not be given the opportunity to fight the Frenchman.
Josh Hokit slams Alex Pereira for demanding a title fight against Ciryl Gane
Hokit has long been taking shots at Pereira and calling him out. He reacted to the former light heavyweight champion's demands for another title shot fight against Gane. The undefeated fighter believes, as a fan, ‘Poatan’ should not get the immediate opportunity and wants the 39-year-old to face Sergei Pavlovich to prove himself before demanding the title fight.
“As a fan, that fight makes no fucking sense. I watched you get demolished. How about a more favorable match up like Sergei who is basically a striker & way less athletic than Ciryl. How about you get one fucking win in this weight class before you are gifted another title shot?” Hokit wrote on X.
