Henry Cejudo Says Gable Steveson Hasn’t Been the Same Since Winning Olympic Gold

There are many fighters like Brock Lesnar, Ronda Rousey, and Daniel Cormier who have competed in different sports. Gable Steveson is also one of them, having tried the NFL and WWE before moving to MMA. He also made his UFC debut with a win. However, former UFC champion Henry Cejudo feels Steveson has not looked the same since the Olympics and believes something may be missing.

Henry Cejudo Takes a Dig at Gable Steveson’s Post-Olympic Career

Talking to Full Send MMA, Cejudo said he sees a problem with Steveson. However, ‘Triple C’ made it clear that it is not technical. He feels something changed after the Olympics, and Steveson needs to be honest with himself and find out what is missing. Cejudo believes the Olympic gold medalist needs to understand what went wrong and work on fixing it.

“He tried out for WWE it didn’t work, he tried out for NFL it didn’t work. There’s something unsettling there. Can he be honest with himself & figure it out because it’s not technique. Especially if he’s disciplined and whatnot, there’s something that’s just not there since the Olympics, dude. And he needs to kind of figure that out, whether he could be completely 100% honest with himself and really pinpoint what it is,” Cejudo said.

For those who don’t know, Steveson has tried four different sports: wrestling, professional wrestling, American football, and MMA. While he has been very good at wrestling, the NFL and WWE didn’t really work out for him. And now, after making a big UFC debut with a first-round win, he has been knocked out in just 12 seconds. This makes Cejudo’s point interesting: despite having the skills and discipline, he is lacking something that he needs to fix.

Daniel Cormier Says He Was Completely Unaware of Gable Steveson’s Past

Cormier said he did not know about the past issues involving Steveson. The former champion said he has always seen him as a great wrestler and an Olympic champion. DC added he was surprised to hear people talking about what happened in Minnesota, as he had no idea about it before.

“I think Gable Steveson, the world of him, he’s Olympic champion in the sport that I love. I know a lot of people are making a lot of stuff about all that stuff in Minnesota. I had no idea that happened,” DC said.

Meanwhile, the Olympic gold medalist has already clarified that he was never charged and that all the allegations were dropped. He has also made it clear that he plans to make a comeback.
