Ilia Topuria reveals a major change in his mindset, no longer basing his happiness on goals.
Fans have started to question Ilia Topuria's mindset, as he was previously much more fearless. However, after his first brutal loss against Justin Gaethje, his thought process has changed, and he claims fans will see a newer version of him.
Recently, ‘El Matador’ opened up in an exclusive interview, giving a glimpse beyond the Octagon and into his personal life. The former lightweight champion says that now he doesn't think about the future and aims to live in the present.
Ilia Topuria Opens Up On His New Mindset
Topuria says his mindset has changed after achieving many of the goals he once chased. ‘El Matador’ realized that reaching those goals didn't automatically make him happier, so now he's more focused on enjoying the present. During a recent video put out by 1Win, he said:
“So, the thing is that once you achieve your dreams, you realize that it's not enough. So now I have a completely different mindset. I just try to enjoy the present and enjoy life, and I don't base my happiness on any goals anymore.”
Fans are definitely going to see a different version of Topuria. In previous videos, he even said that he is more hungry than ever to get back in the Octagon. There are rumors of the 29-year-old facing Paddy Pimblett in December, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
Dana White Confirms Ilia Topuria Is Ready To Fight
Dana White says Ilia Topuria is ready to return to the Octagon and likes both possible fights for him next. White said a rematch with Justin Gaethje would be incredible, while a fight against Paddy Pimblett would also be an amazing matchup. During a recent interview with Jimmy, White said:
“Topuria is ready to fight, we’re ready for him. Both sound good to me. The rematch with Gaethje is incredible. A Paddy Pimblett fight is amazing.”
Both fights are great for the UFC in terms of viewership and hype. But it is up to the matchmakers, and fans will have to wait a little longer for the official announcement. Topuria's return is going to be one of the biggest moments of his career and for his fans alike.
