Tsarukyan could benefit from training with Masvidal. As the former BMF champion has some high-level striking, that's exactly what the Armenian's next opponent, Ruffy, will bring inside the octagon at UFC 331.
Many think Ruffy’s striking prowess could put Tsarukyan in danger, and Michael Bisping thinks the same, warning the Armenian about the Brazilian’s dangerous game plan.
Michael Bisping warns Arman Tsarukyan not to make the same mistake as Michael Chandler
In an episode of Jaxxon Podcast, Bisping pointed to Ruffy's dominant performance against Michael Chandler at UFC Freedom 250 as evidence of what can happen if Tsarukyan allows the Brazilian to dictate the fight on the feet.
"He (Arman Tsarukyan) can't do what Michael Chandler did. And what happened? Ruffy picked him (Michael Chandler) apart the whole time; punished him, caught him in the knees, caught him and just obliterated him; made it look easy. Because Chandler didn't play to his strengths,” Bisping said.
Bisping believes Tsarukyan needs to respect Ruffy's striking while trusting his own hands before transitioning to his biggest weapon: wrestling. The former champion urged the Armenian to follow a similar approach to the one Mackenzie Dern used against Gillian Robertson at UFC 330, using strikes to set up his takedowns rather than immediately relying solely on his grappling.
"Arman's got to be humble enough to say, right, okay, listen, all fights start on the feet. You gotta throw some shots. Just like you saw with Mackenzie Dern, punching into the takedown. He's got to do that. He's gotta believe in his hands. But he's gotta know for sure he's gotta use his wrestling in the fight," Bisping added.
