Jon Jones Face Heat After His Admission About Gable Steveson Walking Out
Jon Jones gets criticized by fans after he admitted that it was his idea to ask Gable Steveson to walk out before the official announcement.
Gable Steveson created a lot of headlines following his bout with Sean Sharaf. While the bout became one of the biggest shock losses in UFC history, Steveson also got into the headlines for his post-fight shenanigans. Once he woke up from the KO, the Olympic gold medalist left the octagon before the final verdict was officially announced.
Such behavior was not taken in a good light by critics. Names such as Daniel Cormier and many more lashed out at Steveson for his unsportsmanlike gesture. However, just as the criticisms were gaining traction, Steveson’s mentor, Jon Jones, stepped in to claim that it was his idea to move the 26-year-old out of the octagon.
Taking to his X account, ‘Bones’ wrote, “I’ve seen some reports on line and I really wanted to clear the air. It was my decision to take Gable straight to the back after the fight. Honestly it was the first time in this situation for me and my instant reaction was to get my friend to the back to make sure he was ok. Gable’s work ethic and will to win is there and I stand by him and believe he will go on to be one of the best heavyweights in the ufc. He will be back I’m sure of it.”

Following such an admission, UFC fans were quick to lambast Jones for his actions too. Replying in the comments section, one fan said, “First instinct because you’re a sc*mbag with zero respect for anyone or anything. He’s toast. All that show boating for a flop. Everyone will just stuff his takedowns now and then put his glass chin lights out.”
Another stated, “Did Gable consent to you taking him to the back? Not that it’s ever stopped Gable or anything…”
