Jon Jones Fires Back at Islam Makhachev Rejecting His Winning Streak With Reference to His Late Coach's Comments
Islam Makhachev's disregard for Jon Jones's winning streak caused the former champion to jibe at him, with a mention of his late coach.
Jon Jones made it clear that he didn't like how Islam Makhachev recently disregarded his undefeated streak, accusing him of using PEDs. Jones presented five points to counter Makhachev's disregard for his winning streak, one of which was related to his late coach. Surprisingly, 'Bones' also fired a shot at his archrival in his reply to Makhachev.

In one of his recent interviews, Makhachev ruled out Jones's record of going unbeaten in 20 fights, mentioning that his streak shouldn't be considered "legit" since he was "caught doping twice." Jones took to his X account to counter Makhachev's statement and penned a five-point reply.
Jones fired back at Makhachev in the first point of his response, saying, "If you believe USADA for finding a picogram in my system, then you must believe USADA when they say 'It was not found to be PERFORMANCE ENHANCING or INTENTIONAL.' You can’t have it both ways."
While Jones served suspensions for both of his failed drug tests in 2017 and 2018, he has denied taking PEDs intentionally both times. The first time, 'Bones' stated that the prohibited substance (Turinabol) came into his system through an unmarked sexual enhancement pill. In 2018, even the arbitrator mentioned that Jones never took steroids intentionally and that the consumption of a contaminated substance resulted in the failed drug test. It's apparent that Jones views himself as innocent to date.
After highlighting how "his hand got raised every time" inside the octagon in his second point, 'Bones' used Makhachev's late coach, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov's remarks to imply that he should be more respectful towards him.
The retired fighter penned, "Your own coach said I was 'a gift from God.'"

Subsequently, 'Bones' switched to his roasting mode to deride Makahchev and wrote, "Let’s not forget you’ve been ko’d, flatlined, went night night." However, even his archrival, Daniel Cormier, caught a stray in the process.
Jones started his final point with, "DC, I kicked you in the head LOL; keep telling yourself it was steroids. Whatever you need to tell yourselves to sleep better at night, go for it." The youngest-ever UFC champion in history concluded his reply by portraying his supremacy over Makhachev in terms of legacy.
Jones mentioned, "Keep chasing, it’s lonely at the top. Islam, hopefully I’ll see you up here one day."
Besides replying to Makhachev's doping accusations, Jones' final lines might reignite the GOAT debate once more that was creating headlines after Makhachev defeated Ian Machado Garry at UFC 330. But while Jones views himself as innocent in the "doping" cases, the failed tests and suspensions might make a large chunk of fans support Makhachev's narrative about his 20-fight undefeated streak.
