Josh Hokit Calls Out Lindsay Clancy Insanity Defense in Controversial Social Media Post

That outspoken nature has landed him in hot water before, particularly over his disparaging comments about former first lady Michelle Obama. Now, the UFC heavyweight troublemaker is kicking up the dust once again, this time over a far more serious and sensitive matter: the Lindsay Clancy case that has captivated the nation.
Josh Hokit Takes Aim at Lindsay Clancy's Insanity Defense
The undefeated fighter has weighed in on the highly contentious Lindsay Clancy case, criticizing the insanity defense being used by the Massachusetts mother accused of killing her three children in 2023.
Clancy’s case has drawn widespread attention because she has admitted to the acts but pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. In fact, her defense has argued that she was suffering from severe postpartum psychosis and a deteriorating mental state at the time of the killings.
The prosecution, however, has argued that the deaths were intentional and that Clancy should be held criminally responsible. While the case has already caused a firestorm, Hokit entered the conversation with a social media video that quickly drew attention for its provocative comparisons.
The 28-year-old did not mince his words when discussing the defense's argument. He said, “If you think Lindsay Clancy is innocent because her hormones are imbalanced, then you should probably think women's hormones are too imbalanced to run for political office, to even drive, to even vote.”
The unbeaten fighter was clearly challenging the idea that hormonal changes or a woman's mental state could, by themselves, establish that Clancy should not be held responsible for what happened.
He didn’t stop just there. Hokit (10-0-0) then took aim at his detractors who suggested that he should approach the case from a woman's perspective - “They say, ‘Josh, you should look at it from a woman’s point of view.’ What do you think I’m doing? I’m looking out the kitchen window.”
The comments are likely to generate plenty of reaction, since Hokit is weighing in on a deeply sensitive criminal case that has little connection to his professional career. Still, the fighter appears to stand his ground.
That said, the case itself is far more complicated than the ongoing social media exchange.. Clancy's defense has centered on postpartum psychosis. For the unversed, it is a severe psychiatric condition that can occur after childbirth and can involve hallucinations and delusions.
Lindsay Clancy Case Ends in Mistrial
The latest development came on September 4, when the case ended in a mistrial. Meaning, the proceedings did not result in a final verdict, leaving the legal battle unresolved, in limbo.
Dating back to January 2023, when prosecutors alleged that Clancy had strangled her three young children while her husband was away from the family home. She subsequently attempted to take her own life and suffered injuries that left her paralyzed from the waist down.
Now, Hokit’s comments came at a moment when the case is already under intense scrutiny following the mistrial. And he is far from alone. Hundreds, if not thousands, of people following the case have questioned whether Clancy’s mental health defense should absolve her of responsibility.
