Former UFC middleweight title challenger Marvin Vettori is all set to make his highly anticipated return to the Octagon.

Marvin Vettori has opened up about why he hates watching his most recent fights.

"The Italian Dream" suggested that he wasn't himself in his latest Octagon appearances and is keen on returning to his former glory.

Marvin Vettori engages in self-criticism, explains why he dislikes watching his recent UFC fights

Speaking to Jose Youngs of MMA Fighting, Marvin Vettori alluded to his recent setbacks, what with his being on a four-fight losing streak. A unanimous decision defeat at the hands of fellow former UFC middleweight championship challenger Jared Cannonier marked the beginning of his current skid.

Vettori gave props to Cannonier and indicated that the American had a good game plan, which played a role in his loss. He emphasized, however, that his next three fights saw him grossly underperform. The middleweight staple opined that he'd "handed" his opponents the victories in his three latest fights.

The 33-year-old stated, "I cannot watch myself. I looked like sh**. I was so f**king pi**ed. I cannot watch it."

Recalling how he felt while watching footage of his latest fight, Vettori said, "I struggled so bad to watch it until the end. Because I'm, like, I'm looking sh**. I'm so f**king bad. I couldn't throw a cross without falling down, like, falling through. I was stiff. It was not myself at all. Like, I was timid a little bit."

Marvin Vettori seeks to showcase his improvements in return against Ismail Naurdiev at UFC 332

Marvin Vettori was outpointed by Jared Cannonier back in 2023. He didn't compete the following year but fought thrice last year. The Italian combatant suffered a trio of unanimous decision defeats -- losing his rematch to Roman Dolidze, then getting outpointed by Brendan Allen, before losing to Brunno Ferreira as well.

The Ferreira loss came last December, and Vettori has since worked extensively to return to his winning ways. He notably departed the American Top Team (ATT) gym in Florida and returned to Kings MMA in California on the back of four consecutive losses.

He's been training under UFC veteran Beneil Dariush at Kings MMA, a gym which many believe has changed as compared to the previous Kings MMA setup wherein Vettori operated a few years ago.

Vettori was originally booked to face Ismail Naurdiev back in June, but he sustained a rib injury and had to withdraw from the Naurdiev showdown. The Kings MMA representative was then rebooked to fight Naurdiev -- their much-awaited middleweight clash will transpire at UFC 332 in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Saturday, October 3.
