Nate Diaz Blasts Ilia Topuria Following his Brutal Loss at UFC Freedom 250

Nate Diaz doesn't seem to be very happy with what he has seen of Ilia Topuria. Topuria, who was rising as a menacing striker in the UFC, suffered a significant blow to his image as a ‘legend killer.’ Facing off against Justin Gaethje, the Spaniard got knocked out after being declared medically unfit following the fourth round. When asked about a probable rematch between the two, Diaz fired back at the former two-division champion with some harsh words. 

Speaking at the Ki MMA presser in NYC, Diaz said, “I don’t really give an (expletive) about what they do, but Ilia is lame as (expletive). He’s (expletive) lame. He’s a punching bag. He called me a punching bag, he’s an (expletive) punching bag. He got his ass whooped.” 

These were some harsh words coming from the former UFC star. At the moment, Topuria is eyeing his return to the UFC. Despite getting bruised and battered, Topuria made a speedy recovery. And as he is planning to get his revenge on Gaethje, Chael Sonnen pointed out how UFC must give the former champion his rematch. 

Chael Sonnen Wants Ilia Topuria-Justin Gaethje Fight to Happen Soon

Sonnen usually has an unfiltered opinion about all things MMA. Recently, the former UFC star doubled down on the ongoing Topuria-Gaethje rematch discussion. Speaking on the matter, Sonnen stated that he believed the Spaniard should be given a chance to prove himself against Gaethje one more time. 

Sonnen said, “You're telling me Ilia Topuria has to earn the right to get back to the very belt that he handed over? That match is not justified. Yes, it is. Excuse me. Ilia versus Justin Gaethje is not just an idea. It's clearly the right idea. Anytime that an undefeated champion goes out and gets upset when he was a three-to-one favorite, it screams rematch.”

Although Topuria has announced his decision to come back, there is no set date for his return yet.
