Kaik Brito will be booked on an episode of the 10th season of Dana White's Contender Series this year.

Kaik Brito (19-6 MMA, 0-1 DWCS) had an opportunity to secure a UFC contract on Dana White's Contender Series in the summer of 2023. During the Aug. 23, 2023 episode, Brito drew the assignment of Oban Elliott (12-4 MMA, 3-2 UFC,) going down in defeat to the latter by way of majority decision.

At the end of the episode, Elliott secured his UFC deal, sending Kaik Brito back to the drawing board and back to OKTAGON MMA. On Feb. 14, Brito secured the OKTAGON MMA Welterweight Championship for the second time in his tenure with the promotion, with both of his OKTAGON title fight wins coming by way of third-round knockout.

That night, he finished Ronald Paradeiser (23-11 MMA, 17-7 OKTAGON) with a spinning backfist to become welterweight champion once more. Initially, the plan was to have Kaik Brito defend the OKTAGON MMA Welterweight Championship on its Sept. 12 event, OKTAGON 93, in the headlining bout against Amiran Gogoladze (18-3 MMA, 4-0 OKTAGON.)

Kaik Brito Relinquishing OKTAGON MMA Welterweight Championship for Second Chance at Contender Series

As of Friday, however, this is no longer the case. Earlier in the day, OKTAGON confirmed that Kaik Brito would be giving up the promotion's welterweight championship to pursue other opportunities in MMA.

Subsequent to OKTAGON's social media post, Bernardo Seriale, who manages Brito through WM Sports, confirmed that he'd be appearing during the upcoming 10th season of Dana White's Contender Series.

"The Brazilian has decided to follow his dreams in his pursuit of becoming the best fighter in the world," OKTAGON wrote in a social media post. "We wish you the best of luck in your journey, Kaik! The welterweight championship belt is now vacant."

Gogoladze's now-canceled fight versus Kaik Brito is the second time that this pairing has been forced to be scrubbed by OKTAGON MMA in the last year. Prior to Brito's vacation of the OKTAGON MMA Welterweight Championship on Friday, he was slated to meet Gogoladze last December in the year-end card from the promotion, OKTAGON 81, before the contest was postponed due to the latter sustaining an injury.

Kaik Brito's DWCS Adversary, Episode Date Not Yet Known

Althought Kaik Brito will be featured in the 10th season of Contender Series, as of late Friday afternoon, there's no word as to the date of his fight inside Meta Apex in Enterprise, NV, nor has there been any confirmation of Brito's opponent on the Tuesday night summer series.

Season 10 of DWCS is due to begin on Aug. 11 and run for 10 weeks, culminating in the season finale on Oct. 13. Stateside, the entirety of the 10th season of the show will be streamed via Paramount Plus at 8 pm ET/ 5 pm PT on Tuesday evenings.

Kaik Brito on Upswing Since LastContender Series Appearance

As previously mentioned, it's been close to three full years since Kaik Brito first trekked to the United States of America for an opportunity at a UFC contract at what was then known as the UFC Apex in Enterprise, NV. In the time since he failed to get his hand raised in victory in the Las Vegas area, his luck has changed for the better.

Following Brito's Aug. 22, 2023 defeat at the Apex, he's had four fights in MMA, going 3-1. Heading into his second attempt on Contender Series later on this summer, he's won two bouts consecutively.

Prior to Kaik Brito's Valentine's Day triumph during OKTAGON 84 in Ostrava, Czech Republic, he scored a first-round knockout victory over Joilton Lutterbach (41-11, 1 NC MMA, 0-1 OKTAGON) last June in OKTAGON 73.
