Pitbull set foot inside the octagon for the first time at UFC 314. But the hype around him faded out after his lackluster debut against Yair Rodriguez, where he suffered a unanimous decision defeat. The Brazilian returned to the winning column with a victory against Dan Ige in his next encounter, but he failed to maintain the momentum, enduring another loss in his third UFC fight against Aaron Pico at UFC 327.

With a 1-2 record in his first three UFC encounters, Pitbull has clearly failed to live up to expectations. But he recently opined that there is one way that can help him earn a new UFC contract.

In a recent interview with reporter James Lynch, Pitbull revealed that he wants to win his final contracted fight against Choi Doo-ho at UFC 331 and go on to sign a new contract with Dana White and Co. Through his translator, he said, "This is the last on my contract right now, I believe. I’m going to win my fight and get a new contract; that’s the plan."

A comparison between the outcomes of Pitbull and Choi's last three fights reveals that the Brazilian's task isn't going to be a cakewalk. Choi has been far more consistent, winning all three, while Pitbull's record stands at 1-2.

Nevertheless, Pitbull's answer to Lynch's question about considering other promotions implied that he would leave no stone unturned to earn a new UFC contract. His translator expressed his thoughts, saying, "I want to stay . I'm gonna win this fight, and I'm gonna win a new contract."

Whether or not Pitbull earns a new contract largely depends on the discretion of Dana White. But it wouldn't be wrong to say that he has possibly elected the best method to get the UFC authorities thinking about his case.
