Payton Talbott Gets Candid on his Love for Climbing Tall Buildings

Payton Talbott is one of the most exciting prospects in the UFC at the moment. Currently enjoying a two-fight win streak, the 5-foot-10 fighter is looking to put his foot on the accelerator.

Having spent quite some time in Dana White’s promotion, Talbott is now trying to climb higher in the bantamweight category. Surprisingly, his love for climbing is not new. Having an inclination towards going on top of tall buildings, Talbott explained his unique hobby.

The UFC bantamweight star spoke with Ariel Helwani recently. When asked about his hobby, Talbott said, “I think it’s good to familiarize yourself with that weird feeling in your gut when you’re looking down that far below. It’s very similar to when you're walking out for a fight, it's kind of nerve-wracking, you're a couple inches away from making a really bad decision.”

He also added, “The older I get, the ‘why’ is not very important. I think humans just do things a lot of the time. They feel pulled to do things, and if they do it enough times, they come up with this profound reason as to why they do it. Usually you just do them, and then you realize later on, ‘That’s why I actually enjoy doing this.’ Maybe I’m not there yet.”

Surely, the fighter will be eager to follow a similar path in his career as well. After securing back-to-back wins against Felipe Lima and Henry Cejudo, UFC has now given him Deiveson Figueiredo.

Going one-on-one against Figueiredo at UFC 332, a win will help Talbott significantly. It will not only get him to a three-fight win streak but will also establish the bantamweight star as a strong opponent. A dominant win might also help him secure a chance to fight for the title in the future.
