Payton Talbott is eyeing a dominant performance against former UFC champion Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC 332.

Payton Talbott has made a major claim regarding the striking department of his fight against Deiveson Figueiredo.

The Las Vegas-born fighter has warned that Figueiredo, who's considered to be one of the most dangerous strikers in the UFC bantamweight division, wouldn't dare to strike with him. Talbott, for his part, is also regarded as a striking savant.

During his conversation with Shakiel Mahjouri on UFC on Paramount, Payton Talbott was told about Deiveson Figueiredo's recent remarks. Apparently, "Deus da Guerra" had suggested that Talbott's striking is excellent but his is even better.

Firing back at the same, Talbott insinuated that Figueiredo surely would fail to hold his own against him in the striking realm. The 28-year-old stated, "That's nice of him." He continued, "I don't think he's going to be able to strike with me. Just to put it simply. I mean, come on."

He added, "It looks like he's very locked in, and focused, and he's ready to go to war. And I'm, like, so thankful for that. 'Cause I hate feeling like my opponent is flat -- leading up to the week, there's nothing really to overcome. It seems like 'Figgy' is -- he's showing up different this fight week in comparison to his last couple of fights. So yeah."

Payton Talbott seeks back-to-back scalps of former champions heading into UFC 332

Payton Talbott has long been deemed one of the most talented prospects in the UFC bantamweight division. His first MMA defeat was against Raoni Barcelos, who bested him via unanimous decision in January of last year.

The rising star bounced back with a pair of victories, beating Felipe Lima by way of unanimous decision last June, as well as defeating Henry Cejudo by unanimous decision last December. The latter win earned Talbott considerable laudation, as Cejudo is an Olympic gold medalist in freestyle wrestling as well as a former UFC flyweight and bantamweight champion.

Incidentally, Talbott is up against another former UFC champion in the form of ex-UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo next. The Brazilian is on a two-fight losing streak, coming off a submission defeat against Song Yadong earlier this year.

Presently, Payton Talbott is scheduled to take on Deiveson Figueiredo in the co-headlining match of UFC 332 at the Delta Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah, on October 3.
