Renato Moicano Continues his Verbal Assault on Brian Ortega
Renato Moicano continues his verbal attacks on Brian Ortega as his main card bout gets cancelled.
Renato Moicano isn't happy with what's happening with him at the moment. The Brazilian star was scheduled for a bout in the UFC 331 main card. Unfortunately, just days ahead of the fight, his opponent, Brian Ortega, withdrew his name from the contest citing an injury. Unhappy and frustrated with the development, Moicano has now gone off on ‘T-City.’
In a recent interaction with Ariel Helwani, Moicano sounded amused at how someone could injure himself right before such an important bout. The Brazilian also pointed out how he believes that Ortega might have tried too hard during his training that caused the injury.
Moicano said, “How the f*** do you hurt yourself a week before the fight?
Maybe he was trying to push too hard. It's like somebody who didn't study enough for the test and wants to learn everything on the last day.”
He further added, “I'm not saying he was looking for a way out, but if you went too hard in training or were sparring a week before, I don't think that's smart. He's coming off four losses in his last five fights, two years without fighting, and fighting in his hometown against a guy he beat once. I would not want to be walking in his shoes right now."
This wasn't the first time Moicano lashed out at Ortega. In an earlier statement, the Brazilian UFC star also pointed out how the cancelled fight brought financial complications.
Renato Moicano Terms Brian Ortega Fight as the ‘Easiest’
A chance to fight on the main card not only comes with a lot of exposure. But it also carries significant financial perks. And following the cancellation of the bout, Moicano cannot stop lamenting the fact that Ortega made him miss out on a significantly handsome payday.
Moicano said, “It was the easiest half a million dollars I was ever going to put in my pocket. Nobody talks about that. The money I'm talking about is just… they said it, okay? That's what was reported. Nobody knows for sure, but they said it."
Moicano has gotten an alternative fight. He'll fight against Tom Nolan on Oct. 31
