Sean Strickland resorted to wrestling in his training camp and lauded his coach for his development

Sean Strickland provided his followers with more insights from his training camp after announcing his return to training full-time a day ago. While 'Tarzan' is known for his love of hard sparring in training camps, this time he focused on his ground game with wrestling sessions. Strickland also revealed the central figure behind the development of his wrestling skills.

Sean Strickland Lauds Former PFL Fighter for Improvement in Wrestling

Strickland has made his stance clear about grappling on multiple occasions. The reigning middleweight champion labeled grappling-related activities as "gay" during the buildup to his fights against Dricus Du Plessis and Khamzat Chimaev. However, Strickland seems to have realized that he will have to master the art to excel inside the octagon despite his distaste.

While Strickland announced his return to training full-time with a sparring clip a day ago, he chose to sharpen his wrestling skills on day two  The reigning middleweight champ took to Instagram and shared a video from his wrestling session. He left the assessment of his session to the fans.

The initial part of his caption read, "Learning how to wrestle... What was the score?

Subsequently, Strickland credited his wrestling coach, former PFL light heavyweight Alex Polizzi, for the improvement in his pedigree on the ground. The latter part of his caption revealed how Polizzi's directions always stay at the back of his mind during his fights.

Strickland mentioned, "Big shout out to my coach @eazypolizzi, I wouldn't be where I'm at today without his coaching. He's not always in my corner, but he's the loudest voice in my head when I'm in the cage."

Although nothing's confirmed about Strickland's next fight, the #3-ranked middleweight contender, Nassourdine Imavov's words say that he will be the next to challenge 'Tarzan' for the title. Given Imavov's prowess in striking, Strickland may not require his wrestling skills much in his next encounter.

However, his development in the wrestling department might make him confident enough to attempt takedowns on his opponent, which indeed is a rare sight. It remains to be seen if he actually plans to take this route in his subsequent encounters.
