“Sign it, my son”: Michael Morales reveals DMs with Ian Machado Garry

Michael Morales revealed his chat with former UFC welterweight title challenger Ian Machado Garry. It seems both have agreed to fight after a heated exchange in their private messages, with Garry even suggesting a potential date for the showdown.

Following a hard-fought loss to Islam Makhachev,  Garry interacted with Morales backstage. The undefeated welterweight was the backup fighter for the main event of UFC 330. The Irish star confronted the undefeated fighter about his past comments but also praised him, suggesting opponents he should face next, including his own name.

Since UFC 330, Morales has been demanding a title shot against Makhachev. However, the welterweight kingpin seems more interested in fighting Carlos Prates, so the next possible fight option for the Ecuadorian could be Garry to earn himself a title shot.

Recently, Morales posted a screenshot of his chat with Garry on his Instagram story. It shows that the Ecuadorian is interested in the fight against the Irish star.

In the screenshot now shared by Championship Rounds, Garry told Morales that he wants to fight before the end of the year and questioned the undefeated fighter about his availability,

"I wanna fight before the end of the year and I'm being told you're not available. You were able to be the backup for the world title fight but not able to take a fight with me now?," Garry messaged Morales. 

Morales responded by dismissing the concerns over his availability and said he is ready to fight whenever the Irish star wants.

"My son, what are you talking about? I fight whenever you want I just want a contract and that's it. I'll kick your ass," Morales responded. 

Garry then suggested a specific date and location for the potential matchup.

"Saudi. November 28th let's do it," Garry replied. 

Morales appeared to agree, but asked Garry to make the fight official by signing the contract.

 "Sign it, my son, and we'll do it," Morales agreed.

Ian Machado Garry and Michael Morales have plenty to gain from potential fight

The matchup could be beneficial for both, as Garry needs to rebuild to earn another title opportunity after failing to capture the welterweight title against Makhachev at UFC 330, and a win over Morales in a potential fight could fast-track that process.

Meanwhile, Morales has remained out of action since his knockout victory over Sean Brady at UFC 322 back in November. He has seven wins in the UFC and has finished his last three opponents, but critics feel he has not faced top-level competition and have used that reasoning to dismiss him from the title shot conversation.

If Morales could beat Garry in a potential fight, he would silence the doubters and earn the title shot without anyone questioning it.
