UFC Color Commentator warns Ilia Topuria about Coming Back too Soon

Ilia Topuria was looking unbeatable just a few months ago. Showing some exquisite striking prowess, ‘El Matador’ made things look easy. He dominated two divisions and also clinched the gold in both of them. Unfortunately, when he faced Justin Gaethje, all of that changed. Now, as the Spaniard is planning to make a comeback, Joe Rogan has issued a stern warning. 

Joe Rogan Unsure About how Ilia Topuria’s UFC Return would Pan Out

Most UFC pundits thought that Ilia Topuria would register one more brutal knockout victory against Gaethje. However, at the end of the fourth round, Topuria was so damaged that a medical intervention became necessary. Following an inspection, he was deemed unfit to continue as Gaethje was awarded the victory. 

Recently, Topuria hinted that he was ready to make a comeback and take back the throne. According to Joe Rogan, such an act could do more harm than good for Topuria. Rogan said, “You gotta be very careful how you recover from those fights. Ilia's a very mentally strong guy, and I think he will bounce back in that regard.” 

The UFC color commentator further added, “There are only a few of those kinds of fights that you can have in your career, and you gotta be very careful how you recover from those. A lot of great fighters have made the mistake of coming back too soon."

Meanwhile, Topuria recently dropped a short video on Instagram describing his life after the fight.

In a recent development, ‘El Matador’ described how hard it was to accept his defeat initially. However, he also pointed out that the fall did not break him. Rather, it made him stronger and focused on coming back with more vengeance. 

Speaking about how the loss shaped his character, Topuria said, “And do you know what I discovered? That after visiting that hell, I am stronger than before, because a champion isn’t someone who never falls, it’s someone who always finds a reason to get back up.”
