UFC featherweight contenders clash this weekend at UFC Vegas 117, as divisional luminary Arnold Allen pits himself against Brazilian hard-hitter Melquizael Costa. In the co-main event, South Korean star Choi Doo-ho comes to blows with sterling Brazilian prospect Daniel Santos.

For well over a decade, Allen has climbed his way to become one of the best 145-lb athletes on the planet, cemented by key wins over veteran strikers such as Dan Hooker, Calvin Kattar, and Giga Chikadze. Although unfortunate setbacks to Max Holloway, Movsar Evloev, and Jean Silva have kept him from reaching the top of the weight class, “Almighty” is aiming to show fight fans that he is still a force to be reckoned with by turning away the South American power-puncher.

Riding a six-bout winning streak, Costa is coming off of two highlight-reel stoppages of Morgan Charrière and Dan Ige, handing both men their first losses by knockout. Seeking to hand his English adversary his own first setback by strikes, “The Dalmatian” enters his UFC main event debut eager to demonstrate his stellar finishing ability once more.

A member of the UFC roster since 2014, Choi has shared the Octagon with several accomplished fighters like Cub Swanson and Jeremy Stephens. Competing for the first time since December 2024, “The Korean Superboy” is finally back in action after putting on two fantastic performances in a row, knocking out both Bill Algeo and Nate Landwehr over the span of five months.

Since suffering the first defeat of his promotional tenure back in 2022, Santos has embarked on an incredible run in the winner’s circle, getting his hand raised in his last four contests. Stepping into the cage for his first outing of 2026, “Willycat” is back on the prowl to continue his climb up the featherweight ladder.
