PFL Nashville Weigh-Ins: Tournament Alternate Comes in Heavy Wednesday Morning

PFL Nashville is almost here. Ahead of the Thursday night card from Nashville Municipal Auditorium tomorrow night, the pre-fight exercises started to wrap up earlier this morning with the official weigh-in window in the Music City. Following today’s official weigh-ins, the ceremonial weigh-ins this evening are all that remains between the competitors and the contests.

As far as PFL Nashville’s schedule of events for tomorrow evening is concerned, the early card begins at 8:30 pm ET/ 5:30 pm PT. If you’re reading this from the United States of America, ESPN+ will have the early card.

Late card action caps the night, but it’ll be a late night for those watching, at 11 pm ET/ 8 pm PT on ESPN proper. Internationally, PFL Nashville is streamed over DAZN. There was some good news and bad news on the scales today at the weigh-ins.

Welterweight Alternate Exceeds Maximum at PFL Nashville Weigh-Ins Wednesday

We’ll start with the bad news regarding today’s weigh-ins. Unfortunately, a recurring theme from the quarterfinal phase of the ongoing PFL World Tournament continued into the first card of the semifinal rounds, as a fighter missed the nontitle maximum.

Tournament alternate Anthony Ivy (15-7 MMA), who will face off against Magomed Umalatov (17-1 MMA,) the latter of whom was eliminated from the tournament proper at the April 1 weigh-ins, came in at 175.4 lbs, north of 4 lbs over the nontitle maximum of 171. Umalatov weighed-in at 170.4 lbs on Wednesday morning.

Due to the former’s weight miss, that fight on the early card is now a catchweight affair during PFL Nashville.

Tournament Semifinalists With No Issues on Scale, Including Fights at Top of Bill

Luckily, however, there was no such drama on the scales among the contestants who secured spots in the semifinals back in April. Every semifinalist came in either on or below the prescribed weight.

The PFL Nashville main event is a go for Thursday evening upon both Jason Jackson (171 lbs) and Thad Jean (170.4 lbs) clocking in at and within the maximum for welterweights. Both fighters earned finishes in the SmartCage on April 2.

Your co-main event will also proceed as scheduled Thursday night after Jesus Pinedo (145.2 lbs) and Gabriel Braga (145 lbs) weighed-in on target. This week’s co-main attraction in PFL Nashville is a rematch of the 2023 PFL Featherweight Championship, won by the former.
