RIZIN 39 Results: Ushiku vs Koike

This is one of those weekends where all the combat sports promotions decided to have a show. UFC, Wotore, LFA, and Rizin all decided to stack their shows this weekend. But it all ends with Rizin tonight with Rizin 39. Headlined by a featherweight championship match with stalwart champion Juntaro Ushiku taking on the submission monster Kleber Koike, the show will go down from Fukuoka, Japan. For a more in-depth of some of the fights, you can see our preview here. As well check out our write-up of the announcement of the main event here

As stated before there is a featherweight title match in the main event. The journey to this match though was a long one. Then champion Yutaka Saito insisted that he put the belt on the line against Ushiku at Rizin 31. Ushiku landed a jumping knee that split Saito open and the doctor waved off the match. The two rematched at Rizin 35 and Ushiku came out the victor again. During this time, Kleber Koike was submitting opponents such as Ulka Sasaki, Mikuru Asakura, and Kyohei Hagiwara on his climb up the rankings. This fight will be a true test for Ushiku and a win can silence the doubters. A win for Kleber brings another belt to the esteemed Bonsai Jiu-Jitsu team alongside lightweight champion Roberto Satoshi Souza.

The co-main event features a huge heavyweight match with former sumo Tsuyoshi Sudario taking on the Romanian fighter Janos Csukas. Both fighters finished all their wins in the first round. This match should end exactly as such.

Additionally, the return of the popular fighter Yusuke Yachi will take on South African Boyd Allen. Other fights will have veterans taking on up-and-comers and three kickboxing matches. Fans can expect of course the wild and bombastic production that Rizin uniquely brings and potentially soccer kicks.

Follow along with MMASucka as we provide Rizin 39 Results throughout the card.
