UFC 288 Results

The main event at UFC 288 features a battle for the bantamweight championship, as current kingpin Aljamain Sterling takes on ‘Triple C’ Henry Cejudo.

Sterling won the 135-pound title in controversial fashion at UFC 259 in 2021 when he Petr Yan landed an illegal knee and was disqualified. At UFC 273, Sterling returned in a rematch against Yan and proved that he was the true champ, earning the split decision victory. In his most recent outing, ‘Funkmaster’ earned a second-round finish against former champion T.J. Dillashaw.

Cejudo will return to action for the first time since May 9, 2020, when he retired from the sport of MMA after earning a second-round TKO finish of Dominick Cruz. The Olympic gold medalist is riding a six-fight winning streak, which included winning and defending titles in two different weight classes.

The evening’s co-main event will be welterweights Belal Muhammad taking on Gilbert Burns. Muhammad is riding a ridiculous 8-0, 1NC streak leading into the fight. Most recently he earned Performance of the Night honors when he finished Sean Brady in the second round at UFC 280. After losing to Khamzat Chimaev, Burns returned to his winning ways by beating Neil Magny via first-round submission and most recently Jorge Masvidal by decision.
