At UFC 156 yet another Strikeforce fighter will make the transfer over to the Octagon, as Isaac Vallie-Flagg is scheduled to take on Yves Edwards.
UFC Officials announced the latest match-up on Monday.
Vallie-Flagg (13-3-1) has been on a 10-0-1 run, with key wins in Strikeforce over Brian Melancon and Gesias Cavalcante. The Jackson-Winkeljohn fighter joined the Strikeforce roster in 2011 and will make the jump to an already stacked UFC welterweight division.
Edwards (42-18-1) has been on a rough patch, going 2-2 in his last four bouts. Most recently he picked up a big knockout over Jeremy Stephens at UFC on FOX 5 in December. The “Thugjitsu Master” earned the “Knockout of the Night” bonus in his last bout and will look to impress again come February.
UFC 156 is set to go down on February 2 and will no doubt be stacked as that is Super Bowl weekend. Already announced to be on the card is UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo vs. Frankie Edgar, as well as former light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.
