UFC 167 has quickly become one of the most stacked fight cards in the history of the organization. A heavyweight showdown between Alistair Overeem and Frank Mir has been added to the November fight card.

Adam Hill of the Las Vegas Review-Journal first reported the heavyweight match-up.
Overeem (36-13 1NC) came in to the UFC riding a high and took out the heavyweight divisions most recognized figure in Brock Lesnar. The organization had big expectations of The Reem, but he did not live up to them. Since beating the WWE superstar he has gone on a two-fight losing skid – picking up losses to Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva and Travis Browne. Both of the blemishes on his record came via knockout.
Mir (16-8) is riding an unfortunate three-fight losing streak. Most recently he was on the wrong side of a Josh Barnett knee; although controversial the fight was finished early in the first round. Prior to the UFC 164 loss, he lost to former Strikeforce Grand Prix champ Daniel Cormier and Junior dos Santos for the UFC heavyweight title.
UFC 167 will be the 20th anniversary of the organization and will go down on November 16 from Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena. The main event will be for the welterweight championship, as divisional kingpin Georges St-Pierre puts his belt on the line against Johny Hendricks. Also announced for the card is Chael Sonnen vs. Rashad Evans, Rory MacDonald vs. Robbie Lawler and Josh Koscheck vs. Tyron Woodley.
