KSW 53 Set For First 2020 Show

It’s the first fight week of 2020 for KSW and we are over halfway through the year. COVID-19 pandemic has wreaked havoc on the world, including the world of MMA. KSW 53: Reborn was originally scheduled for March 21, 2020, but was cancelled. The event will not take place Saturday, July 11, 2020, in a studio in Poland. The event can be seen at KSWtv or on the newly created KSW mobile app.

Main Event With Lots of Fire

KSW’s resident double champ, Mateusz Gamrot (15-0) will defend his lightweight crown against the interim champion, veteran Norman Parke (28-6-1). The two have a fiery past meeting twice before at KSW 39 and KSW 40. KSW 39 saw Gamrot walk away with the split decision. KSW 40 ended a bit more controversial in a “no contest” due to an eye poke. These bouts were in 2017 and a lot has changed in three years. The two have had high tensions at weigh-ins and look for this matchup to be just as intense, if not more so, this time around. Both fighters are grinders who look to punish their opponent so look for this matchup to come down to the wire.

Polish Veterans Take the Co-Main Event Slot

If KSW were to ever create it’s own Hall of Fame, both of these fighters would be a lock. Two former champions Borys Mankowski (20-8-1) and the Polish Zombie Marcin Wrzosek (14-6) look to steal the show in the co-main spot. Mankowski showed signs of his old self scoring an anaconda choke in the first round of KSW 51 in November 2019. Though Wrzosek has been flip-flopping wins and losses since KSW 37 (3-3 in that time), two of those losses are to current interim champions, Parke and featherweight champion Salahdine ParnasseThe Polish Zombie will always push the pace, which makes this an absolute must-see matchup at 155 pounds.
