Mateusz Gamrot Signs With UFC; Debut Set

Mateusz Gamrot

KSW’s first-ever double-champion, Mateusz Gamrot, has signed with the UFC and will compete on the October 17, 2020, card against Magomed Mustafaev. Gamrot held both the featherweight and lightweight titles simultaneously before leaving KSW after his last title defense in August. “Gamer” is also undefeated and will look to career that momentum over into the UFC.

KSW’s Double-Champion

Currently, 17-0 as a professional, went 13-0 Mateusz Gamrot had one “no contest” during his tenure in KSW, one of Europe’s premier MMA organizations. Gamrot was KSW’s lightweight champion for almost four years, winning the vacant title in October 2016 at KSW 36. He earned the featherweight title at KSW 46 in December 2018 defeating the dangerous ground artist in Kleber Koike Erbst.

UFC Debut

Gamrot makes his debut against a tough opponent in Magomed Mustafaev. The two are scheduled to meet on Fight Island at UFC Fight Night: Ortega vs Korean Zombie on October 17, 2020. The bout is currently on the main card of the event, giving Gamrot an immediate stage to showcase his abilities. Mustafaev is currently 3-2 in the UFC but is coming off of a split-decision loss to Brad Riddell in February. He also has a highlight reel spinning back fist knockout of Rafael Fiziev back in April 2019. Ten of Mustafaev’s 14 career wins have come by knockout, while eight of Gamrot’s 17 wins have come by decision. He also has five knockouts and four submissions.

“Gamer” has shown he can get the job done where ever needed. Much more comfortable at lightweight, debuting in the lightweight division is a much better idea for Gamrot than trying to compete at featherweight again. This is a debut bout that should be highly anticipated for 2020.
