Standout submission star Mikey Musumeci will meet Cleber Sousa for the organization’s first-ever submission grappling World Championship. ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong made the announcement on Facebook on Tuesday.
The ONE Flyweight Submission Grappling World Title will help settle the score between the two as they are 1-1 against each other in competition.
Both prior meetings happened in 2017. Musumeci picked up his win on points while Sousa grabbed a referee decision.
After five years, the tie will be broken with gold hanging in the balance.
As reported by MMA Mania, a championship clash will go down at ONE on Prime Video 2. Superbon Singha Mawynn will defend the ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Championship against Chingiz Allazov.
Allazov stormed through the ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix earlier this year to ascend to the top contender’s spot. The Belarusian scored back-to-back knockouts over Samy Sana and Jo Nattawut to earn a spot in the final.
At ONE X, Allazov edged out Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong for the tournament crown and earned a date with Superbon.
The Thai titleholder claimed the gold with a highlight-reel KO for the ages against Giorgio Petrosyan before successfully defending it against Marat Grigorian in March 2022.
ONE on Prime Video 2 is now led by three extraordinary title bouts in three different sports, and the rest of the card is still to come.
ONE on Prime Video 2: Xiong vs. Lee will air live on Friday, September 30, at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
