BKFC 77 fight week is well underway. This Saturday night (UK time), the final show before David Feldman’s promotion takes a week off to celebrate the Fourth of July weekend inside the United States takes place in England.
Birmingham’s BP Place Live, formerly known as the Resorts World Arena, serves as the setting for the final BKFC show in the month of June. Coverage of this week’s show begins with the countdown show at 1 pm ET/ 10 am PT (US time) on YouTube before moving onto the fights themselves at 2 pm ET/ 11 am PT.
If you’re unable to subscribe to the show via YouTube pay-per-view, you need not worry about missing the action at BKFC 77 this upcoming weekend. As always, this show will be available throughout the world by way of DAZN.
All told, barring any late postponements between now and the weekend, the final version of BKFC 77 in Birmingham will feature a schedule of 13 bare-knuckle fights.
BKFC 77 Main Event: BKFC UK Welterweight Championship: [C] Connor Tierney vs. Danny Christie
At the top of the bill on Saturday evening, the main attraction is a battle for BKFC’s UK Welterweight Championship. Current titleholder Connor Tierney (8-2 bare-knuckle) defends his strap when he meets up with challenger Danny Christie (5-2 bare-knuckle.)
All fights on BKFC 77 will be an advertised maximum of five rounds at two minutes each. Connor Tierney will be making the walk on the strength of a 4-1 record in his last five professional fights.
Last August, he won the UK welterweight title with a unanimous decision victory over Jonny Graham (2-1 bare-knuckle.) He hasn’t set foot in the ring for close to 11 months time, thus the age-old question of ring rust has reared its ugly head once again ahead of BKFC 77.
What kind of training camp has he been able to have after almost a year away from competition? Tune in and find out.
Meanwhile, Danny Christie enters Saturday night’s card with a 3-2 mark over the last five contests. Most recently, he was on the receiving end of a second-round TKO from David Mundell (10-1 bare-knuckle) in October of last year on the first BKFC card on DAZN.
He’s eager to get back in the win column after getting knocked out by Mundell last fall, but will he? Only time will tell.
BKFC 77 Co-Main Event: Jamie Cox vs. Charles Wasserman
Immediately beforehand, the co-main event of the evening at BKFC 77 takes place at light heavyweight when Jamie Cox (bare-knuckle debut), who went 25-2 in traditional boxing, knuckles up for the first time against Charles Wasserman (1-2 bare-knuckle)
Cox makes his bare-knuckle debut this Saturday night having posted a record of 3-2 in his last five bouts. Back in 2018, he sustained a second-round knockout defeat at the hands of John Ryder in a 12-round fight in London.
Jamie Cox is a decorated fighter inside the squared circle, having won the WBO European Super-Middleweight Championship, but Wasserman wasn’t his original adversary for this weekend’s fight in BKFC 77. Initially, Jamie Cox was supposed to have fought Pat Casey (2-2 BKFC) before Casey was rebooked to fight on the June 14 card from Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT.
How has the opponent switch affected Cox’s training camp ahead of his return to competitive violence?
Across the way, Charles Wasserman has gone 1-2 since joining the BKFC active roster in 2023. He’s been on the wrong end of his last two fights, dropping a second-round knockout to Anthony Holmes last November in Newcastle.
A victory over Jamie Cox in BKFC 77 would be a resume-building result for Wasserman.
BKFC 77 Featured Bout: Marley Churcher vs. Anthony Holmes
Also on the BKFC 77 main card, the featured bout of the night takes place at light heavyweight when Marley Churcher (3-3 bare-knuckle) meets Anthony Holmes (5-2-1 bare-knuckle.)
Churcher makes his seventh career appearance and his first under the BKFC promotional banner having posted a record of 2-3 in his five most-recent fights dating back to 2022. A former champion in BKB, he was on the wrong end of a decision in a traditional boxing match versus Arman Khudoyan this past April.
He was unlucky when the gloves were on earlier this spring, but now that he’s back in familiar surroundings, can he return to the win column?
In the other corner, Anthony Holmes has gone 2-2-1 in his last five bare-knuckle matches. Last time out, he scored a second-round knockout over the aforementioned Charles Wasserman on Nov. 2 during BKFC 68 in Newcastle.
Holmes has been a streaky fighter throughout his tenure in bare-knuckle boxing. He started out on a five-fight unbeaten streak before coming away empty-handed twice in a row. He got his hand raised in victory last fall, but how will this contest play out?
