LFA 122 Results

Legacy Fighting Alliance returns to the St. Louis area, this time with hometown champion defending his title. Charles Johnson steps into the Factory at the District on Friday night to face the toughest fight of his career, Carlos Mota. Stay tuned as MMA Sucka brings live LFA 122 results.

The Main Event: A Collision Course

After a three-year hiatus, Charles Johnson returned in 2021 for a stellar year. After choking out undefeated Karlee Pangilinan at the promotion’s centennial show, he edged Yuma Horiuchi to claim the flyweight belt in July. In a remarkably quick turnaround from the five-round war, Johnson then defended the title the next month, knocking out Juan Camilo in the second round at LFA 114. It is hard to see how Johnson does not get the UFC call-up with a win over Mota.

Carlos Mota has been at the top of many top prospects lists for a while. The 6-0 Brazilian has bounced around between flyweight and featherweight, and was scheduled to face Victor Altamirano for the belt at LFA 100, but had to pull out due to travel issues. In the meantime, he fought at one of the LFA’s Brazil shows in July, LFA 112, winning a decision over Jefferson Oliveira. Now, the Muay Thai striker finally gets the title shot he has been owed.

The Rest of the Card

In the co-main event, Brant Moore (9-1) will look to make it eight in a row when he takes on Artur Estrazulas (12-5), who is coming off a loss in his first LFA main event at LFA 97. Two-time IMMAF gold medalist Will Starks (7-2) makes his third LFA appearance, fighting Brazilian Glaucio Eliziario (9-7). On the preliminary card, Russian prospect Elmar Umarov, who trains in the St. Louis area, looks to rebound from his first loss.
