American teenage phenom Adrian Lee emphatically responded to his first career defeat, delivering a dominant ground-and-pound TKO victory over Japanese veteran Shozo Isojima. The lightweight MMA showcase unfolded at ONE Fight Night 40 on Friday, February 13, at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
The 19-year-old Singaporean-American discussed his improved composure under adversity following his setback against ONE Welterweight Submission Grappling World Champion Tye Ruotolo last year. Lee expressed satisfaction with his first-round finish while crediting his ability to stick to the game plan.
The youngest member of the famed Lee family improved his MMA record to 4-1 with the victory. Adrian Lee’s heavy elbows opened a cut on Isojima’s forehead before the referee stopped the contest, marking his first TKO finish in ONE Championship.
Adrian Lee Delivers Violent Ground Attack
Adrian Lee detailed his approach of taking whatever opportunity presents itself first. The Prodigy Training Center representative expressed happiness that his elbows produced the cut that led to the stoppage.
“We always say we take whatever comes first, whether it’s TKO or submission. In this case, it was the TKO. I was glad one of my elbows had cut him on his forehead. So, it was a great day in the office,” Adrian Lee said.
The finish marked a departure from Lee’s first three promotional victories, which all came via submission. The 19-year-old’s ability to secure stoppages through both grappling and ground strikes demonstrate the well-rounded skill set inherited from his champion siblings Christian Lee and Angela Lee.
Teenage Sensation Adrian Lee Credits Improved Mental Approach
Discussing his growth following the Ruotolo defeat, the Hawaii-based athlete highlighted his enhanced composure during difficult moments. “The Phenom” explained how staying calm and executing the game plan proved crucial to securing victory against the experienced Japanese fighter.
“I feel like one thing that has definitely a lot was my composure in adversity. I was able to stay composed, stick to the game plan, and execute it. This sport means everything to me. I dedicate my life to the sport, and all that matters is that I came out with the win,” Lee explained.
Isojima brought a 6-1 professional record into the lightweight matchup. The 28-year-old Japanese fighter suffered his second consecutive loss after Ruotolo submitted him in less than three minutes last November.
‘The Phenom’ Adrian Lee Seeks Quick Turnaround on Tokyo Card

Lee expressed openness to facing any opponent while requesting a quick return to competition. He specifically mentioned interest in competing on ONE Championship’s April card in Tokyo, Japan.
“For me, there’s no one specific, but I’d like to get a quick turnaround. Maybe that April card in Tokyo, I’d love to be on it,” the teenage standout said.
The victory over Isojima marks an important step in Lee’s maturation following the Ruotolo setback. The Hawaii-based athlete’s ability to rebound with a dominant finish proves he possesses the mental fortitude necessary for championship pursuits in ONE Championship’s competitive lightweight division.
