Aljamain Sterling, Kevin Vallejos Agree to Fight Following Exchange on X
Aljamain Sterling and Kevin Vallejos have verbally agreed to a fight after an exchange on X, after Sterling called Vallejos out.
It looks like social media is doing the matchmaker’s job once again. Former UFC Bantamweight Champion Aljamain Sterling and rising prospect Kevin Vallejos have verbally agreed to throw down following an exchange on X.
Sterling sparked the dialogue after expressing frustration with the younger generation of fighters. The 37-year-old veteran took to social media to call out Vallejos directly, tweeting:
"If you accept another fight, you are simply scared for the real challenge. First Silver, now you?? All you young guys need a lesson in history, and I’m the fucking teacher. @ElChinoVallejos @ufc"
It did not take long for the 24-year-old Argentine prospect to bite back. Vallejos kept his response short, sweet, and confident, writing:
"See you soon, legend."
The Funk Master Meets El Chino
The callout comes shortly after Jean Silva dismissed Sterling’s callout following UFC Noche. Refusing to sit on the sidelines, "Funk Master" turned his sights toward Vallejos. Sterling holds an impressive 26-5-0 professional record. The former bantamweight kingpin has seamlessly transitioned into the featherweight division, securing hard-fought unanimous decision victories over elite contenders like Youssef Zalal and Brian Ortega. Averaging 2.54 takedowns per 15 minutes with a 52% striking accuracy, Sterling remains a dominant grappling threat against anyone in the top ten.
On the other side of the Octagon stands Vallejos. "El Chino" has been on an absolute tear, boasting an 18-1-0 professional record. His only career stumble came against Jean Silva on Dana White's Contender Series back in 2023. Vallejos recently delivered a statement performance by knocking out veteran Josh Emmett, solidifying his status as one of the division's dangerous rising stars.
