Anthony Wint Sizes Up UFC Heavyweight Division with Brutally Honest Admission

Anthony Wint may not have to wait long to advance his standing within the UFC's heavily competitive and intensely scrutinized heavyweight division. The undefeated newcomer already has two finishes in his name in the Octagon so far, but his latest remarks indicate that he is keenly aware of the obstacles he must overcome to move up the ladder.
The 5-foot-11 Wint recently spoke out about the difficulties he faces at 235 pounds when going up against other UFC heavyweights who are physically much bigger than him. However, the UFC lists Wint with an 8-0 professional record.
Wint Has One Question About the Heavyweight Division
In a recent Instagram video, Wint appears to be sizing up the division while openly and honestly acknowledging the difficulties of matching up with much bigger opponents.
"As I look at them, I pray to God, 'How are you going to make the 235-pound dude, who's 5'11" and only been fighting for five years, beat this dude with a V at the end of his name?'" Wint observed.
These comments make a valid point about one of the most challenging aspects of Wint's game. Although the former college footballer holds tremendous skill, he has to make major sacrifices in terms of power against some of the division's heaviest hitters.
The 26-year-old only started training in MMA in 2021 when his college football career came to an unexpected end. He soon joined the UFC after only one fight in Dana White's Contender Series against Matt Adams, which he won in just 34 seconds.
From Football to UFC Heavyweight Contender
Wint has been on a roll after joining the UFC. The former prospect submitted Terrance Chatman via first-round arm-triangle choke in August, improving his pro record to 8-0.
The rising heavyweight star has demonstrated that his confidence is not misplaced. Wint has often spoken of his faith and how it helped him overcome challenges both in and out of the Octagon.
"I'm not afraid to fail. I'm not afraid to lose. I'm not afraid to get knocked out. I'm not afraid to be great," Wint told the UFC.
With a fight scheduled against Lucas Arman for UFC 332 on Saturday, Wint now faces yet another golden opporunity to showcase his abilities, and that mere size is not enough to prevent him from making a significant impract among the UFC's heavyweight giants.
