BKB CEO David Tetreault reveals talks with Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk's camps for potential bare-knuckle boxing match

Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk are both beheld as bona fide legends in the sport of professional boxing. They've clashed twice inside the squared circle, with Usyk winning on both occasions.

Usyk beat "The Gypsy King" via split decision in their back-and-forth first encounter in May of 2024. Their rematch in December ended with a more decisive win for "The Cat," who bested Fury via unanimous decision. 

Here, in 2026, it appears as though a possible bare-knuckle boxing match between the two legendary pugilists could be on the horizon. 

BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing CEO David Tetreault has suggested that he's discussed the potential bare-knuckle boxing matchup with both boxers' camps, further suggesting that both camps have displayed interest in the same. 

Tyson Fury is on the cusp of a long-awaited grudge match against Anthony Joshua, whereas Oleksandr Usyk is en route to his final fight

Former unified heavyweight champion Tyson Fury is booked to take on Mariusz Wach, in what many have deemed a warm-up fight, before he takes on longtime rival Anthony Joshua in their grudge match later this year.

The Fury-Wach fight goes down on July 24, whereas Joshua is set to fight Kristian Prenga on July 25. The Fury-Joshua showdown would materialize next provided both British boxing megastars emerge victorious in their respective matches. 

On the other hand, Oleksandr Usyk boasts a pair of wins over Fury and Joshua each. The Ukrainian, however, nearly suffered his first pro boxing defeat against kickboxing legend-turned-boxer Rico Verhoeven earlier this year. 

The former undisputed cruiserweight and undisputed heavyweight champion bested Verhoeven via a controversial 11th-round TKO, vacating his boxing heavyweight titles soon thereafter.

Usyk confirmed that he'll compete in his career's final fight next, reportedly listing ex-WBC heavyweight titlist Deontay Wilder and former two-division UFC champion Jon Jones as opponents he'd consider for the same. 

BKB boss David Tetreault sheds light on talks about a potential bare-knuckle boxing clash between gloved boxing greats Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk

The BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing organization made waves with its Los Angeles fight card last Saturday, July 18, as ex-WBC welterweight kingpin and gloved boxing veteran Victor Ortiz headlined BKB 56. 

Ortiz, for his part, bagged a gritty win in what was his debut in the sport of bare-knuckle boxing.

Additionally, BKB CEO David Tetreault spoke to TMZ Sports' Mike Babcock before the event and put forth some rather intriguing revelations about a mammoth fight that could come to fruition if the stars align. 

Tetreault, when asked what his dream fight would be to promote under the BKB banner, revealed that he'd spoken with Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk about having them clash inside the BKB Trigon. 

The boxing personality stated, "Well, I'll tell you the ultimate dream fight that we really would love to do, right? And we've had conversations with both camps. Okay? Tyson Fury versus Oleksandr Usyk. That is the ultimate dream fight." 

He added, "I've had conversations with Spencer Brown (Fury's manager). I've had conversations with Egis Klimas (Usyk's manager). I've been with Oleksandr at bare-knuckle events in Europe. We've sat down. We've talked about it. I can't say that it's happening. But as a dream fight, one hundred percent." 

Citing that Fury hails from a legendary boxing family with Irish Traveler heritage -- a community in which boxing and bare-knuckle boxing are immensely popular -- Tetreault noted, "Look at the heritage of somebody like Tyson Fury. They're travelers. That's their thing. Right?" 

When asked about whether Usyk shot down the idea directly, Tetreault said, "No. I mean, he goes on record saying that he would consider bare-knuckle." 

Addressing Fury's interest, he explained, "And a hundred percent, Tyson Fury has said, 'I'll consider bare-knuckle boxing.' I've talked to Spencer about it. And I said I've talked to Egis about it." 

Also, upon being questioned about how big that'd be, Tetreault said, "It would just be the biggest event ever in the history of all combat sports... You take it to the level of gladiatorial. Let's get serious."

David Tetreault is open to booking Floyd Mayweather Jr. against BKB 56 headliner Victor Ortiz at a future bare-knuckle boxing event

David Tetreault was asked if he'd book a bare-knuckle boxing match between boxing greats Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Victor Ortiz, whom "Money" Mayweather knocked out in their professional boxing match several years ago. 

The BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing boss affirmed that he'd surely book a possible Mayweather-Ortiz clash in the BKB, saying, "We would absolutely do that... in a heartbeat. And I would do it (Mayweather vs. Ortiz) at 'SoFi Stadium' here in Los Angeles. And I'd pack that stadium." 

The veteran combat sports personality pointed out that he worked with boxing legend and promoter Oscar De La Hoya for around eight years at De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions, even serving as the organization's CBO (Chief Business Officer). 

Tetreault indicated that Golden Boy's base of operations at the time was Los Angeles. On that note, he asserted that BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing operates from three bases -- namely Miami, Los Angeles, and London. 

He notably alluded to BKB 56 being the promotion's first Los Angeles card, signaling that there's much more to come for fight fans from BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing in L.A. in the future.
