Bruce Buffer is not happy with the way Josh Hokit behaved at UFC Freedom 250 and finds the title contender 'disrespectful'

When legendary Octagon announcer Bruce Buffer speaks up about a fighter's behavior, the mixed martial arts community pays close attention. During a recent appearance on a Kick live stream hosted by N3on, the iconic voice of the UFC made it crystal clear that he is no fan of heavyweight prospect Josh Hokit following his controversial post-fight remarks.

While Hokit has impressed fans with his dominant collegiate wrestling background and physical style inside the Octagon, his mic work at the UFC Freedom 250 event left a bad taste in the mouth of the sport's longest-serving announcer. Hokit used his post-fight interview to launch into bizarre comments referencing former First Lady Michelle Obama and the White House, triggering immediate backlash across the combat sports world.

Buffer Draws the Line on Fighter Conduct

Buffer, who has introduced the biggest stars in combat sports history for nearly 30 years, did not hold back when asked for his honest opinion on the heavyweight prospect.

“He can fight, but I don’t like what he talks about, I think he’s disrespectful,” Buffer said during the stream. “The things he said at the White House, I’m sorry, I didn’t appreciate that.”

In the UFC, building a personal brand through pre-fight banter and trash talk is standard procedure, but Buffer believes there is a strict line between fight promotion and unnecessary disrespect on a global platform. Hokit previously established himself as a standout All-American wrestler at Fresno State before transitioning into professional mixed martial arts, where his physical strength quickly turned heads in the division.

However, alienating fans and veteran figures with out-of-line political jabs can quickly overshadow a fighter's accomplishments inside the cage. Whether Hokit decides to tone down his microphone antics or double down ahead of his next walk to the Octagon remains to be seen, but earning a direct public callout from the most respected announcer in MMA history is never a great look for a rising contender.
