Khaos Williams surprised by Roberto Soldic matchup

Khaos Williams was surprised when he learned he would face Roberto Soldic at UFC 332. The American welterweight was not expecting to share the Octagon with the Croatian, who will be making his UFC debut on Saturday. While Williams previously admitted that Soldic presents a dangerous challenge, he believes the matchup makes sense because of what both fighters bring to the Octagon.

Williams has competed in the UFC since 2020 and has built a reputation for aggressive performances inside the Octagon. The 32-year-old is coming off a TKO victory over Nikolay Veretennikov in May after losing back-to-back fights. Soldic, meanwhile, will be making his UFC debut after competing for ONE Championship and KSW, where he is a former two-division champion.

Although Williams was surprised by the matchup, he believes the UFC's matchmakers know what they are doing and expects the fight to deliver for the fans.

"I was surprised, but at the end of the day, I know what I bring to the table, and it's a fun fight," Williams said on Just Scrap Radio on BJPENN.com. "The matchmakers know what they are doing. At the end of the day, I know what I bring to the table; matchups make fights, and the UFC knows it will be a good fight. They know what I am coming to do. You can't prey on a predator; I'm a predator, man. It doesn't matter who they put in front of me."

The matchup features two aggressive strikers with significant knockout power. Williams has stopped nine opponents by knockout or TKO, while Soldic has 18 such victories.

Khaos Williams Eyes Ranked Opponent

Williams also already has an idea of what he wants next if he defeats Soldic. The American expects a victory over the UFC newcomer should earn him a matchup against a ranked opponent.

"Absolutely," Williams said. "If he beats me, they're going to give him a ranked guy, so if I beat him, I should get a ranked guy."

Williams and Soldic are scheduled to meet at UFC 332 on Saturday at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City. While the Croatian will make his UFC debut, Williams will look to build on his recent victory and move closer to the welterweight rankings.
