Logan Paul Targets Conor McGregor: The Anatomy of a Crossover Megafight That Never Happened
Logan Paul believes he could easily beat Conor McGregor in Boxing or MMA and opens up about why the fight never took place due to the Irishman's UFC contract
Crossover fights in combat sports are usually built on trash talk and wild speculation, but according to Logan Paul, a megafight against former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor came surprisingly close to materializing. Speaking on the PBD Podcast, the influencer-turned-combat athlete revealed that UFC contract logistics were the primary reason fight fans never saw the two collide.
"Me and Conor almost could have happened, but it didn't happen because he had a couple more fights on his UFC contract," Paul explained.
Size, Style, and Trash Talk
Despite the fight falling through, Paul remains adamant about how a hypothetical matchup would play out inside a boxing ring or the Octagon. McGregor built his legend in the UFC with a 22-6 record, becoming the organization's first simultaneous two-division champion at featherweight and lightweight. However, Paul believes physical reality and recent activity favor him heavily in a crossover setting.
When asked point-blank if he could defeat the Irish superstar, Paul didn't hesitate.
"Undoubtedly," Paul stated. "I'm like 30 to 40 pounds heavier, he's not an amazing boxer, and look at the shape that he's in right now. I would honestly do boxing or MMA."
Beyond the weight difference, Paul took aim at McGregor’s public persona, comparing the former champ's recent public appearances to professional wrestling antics.
"Conor is interesting because he's such a showman and he's so convincing, he can convince people that he could beat me," Paul said. "Everyone knows he's faking it. It's funny, he's really a WWE star at the moment. He's doing the same thing I'm doing, but way worse. I think he's so captivating. I'm a fan, he's just a bum."
While contractual obligations in the UFC kept McGregor locked down, Paul clearly believes his size and boxing experience would carry him to victory. Whether the two ever square off in a ring or cage remains uncertain, but Paul is more than happy to continue firing shots at the combat sports icon.
