Merab Dvalishvili Issues Stern Warning to Umar Nurmagomedov as Bad Blood Brews

Merab Dvalishvili might have defeated Umar Nurmagomedov in their UFC title fight, but the recent incidents that transpired suggest that the bad blood between them is far from being over. Things got heated when Dvalishvili allegedly got involved in a physical confrontation with Nurmagomedov’s friend, Ahmed Gadzhimagomedov, in Georgia.

With the reports coming in about the former UFC bantamweight champion slapping Umar’s friend, the Dagestani fighter reciprocated in a stern verbal tone. Following such a reaction, Dvalishvili has now further upped the ante. 

Merab Dvalishvili Clarifies that he Takes No Disrespect 

Dvalishvili recently posted a video explaining his actions in Georgia. He pointed out that anybody who tries to disrespect him will be treated in a tough manner. The 35-year-old UFC star also made clear that it did not matter to him which country he was in. His reaction to disrespect will always be the same. 

The Georgian said, “Umar and some small people keep talking trash about me. You guys probably don't know anything about life. But I'm a man and if you come to me, pulling me over, disrespect me, start loud talk with me in different language, I will slap your face because that's who I am. That's how I grow up, that's my culture and that's what you're gonna get.”

Dvalishvili further added, “So, doesn't matter if I am in US, if l am in Mexico, in Australia or in my country, Georgia. If you come bad intention, you're gonna get bad intention.”

However, what Nurmagomedov stated about the entire fiasco was quite contrary to Dvalishvili’s narration.

In light of the recent controversy that brewed between Dvalishvili and Gadzhimagomedov, Umar had quite a strong reaction. In an interaction with Adam Zubayraev, Nurmagomedov claimed that his friend never disrespected the Georgian fighter. He also vouched that Gadzhimagomedov did not intend to start a fight. 

Thus, looking at the entire fiasco, the 30-year-old lashed out, saying, “He's the one who has to live with it. Can you imagine a Georgian coming up to me in Dagestan? I can’t imagine myself doing that. But as a person, how do you live with that, and how do the people who defend it live with that?"
