Oscar De La Hoya has taken aim at Dana White’s boxing ambitions, questioning the UFC CEO’s approach to promoting the sport.

Oscar De La Hoya was recently a guest on Ariel Helwani's show, where Helwani asked whether Ryan Garcia could move to Zuffa Boxing as his promoter. ‘King Ry’ already had a good experience there, having fought Conor Benn on a Zuffa Boxing card. Answering it, Golden Boy said he doesn't see Garcia ending up with Zuffa Boxing, and he took shots at Dana White while saying so.

Oscar De La Hoya Blasts Dana White Over Boxing Moves

For those who don’t know, Garcia is still under contract with De La Hoya, the Benn fight came together as a cross-promotional partnership between Zuffa Boxing and Golden Boy Promotions. Meanwhile, Helwani asked if De La Hoya could see Garcia joining Zuffa Boxing in the future. The answer was a blunt no, and he went after White in the process.

In his words, “Dana is getting so much heat for not knowing what he's doing… The fact that he is getting heat from the UFC fans and he is getting heat from the boxing world. It’s like what are you doing… Eddie Hearn is just cooking him... He's just Uncle Fester who is right there in front of the camera, can't even give an interview because he's cursing at the reporters. I mean, what kind of promoter is that?”

‘Golden Boy’ said White is taking heavy criticism from both UFC fans and the boxing world, and he questioned whether the UFC boss knows what he's doing. He also pointed to Eddie Hearn, who is also constantly taking shots on White at the moment.

The feud between De La Hoya and White isn't new, and both men have been trading shots for a while. Plenty of boxing promoters weren't happy when White jumped into the sport, for obvious reasons. Still, he has done a pretty great job so far, with Canelo vs. Crawford and now Garcia vs. Benn.

Dana White Takes Shots At Eddie Hearn

Recently, White said he doesn't see Eddie Hearn as a threat, and he credits Hearn's father for the success the family has had in boxing. He made a point of saying he isn't trying to trash Matchroom promoter, that he doesn't dislike him, but that Hearn simply isn't the guy. White added that he loves to compete, and when someone says they want to compete with him, he treats it as a fight.

“As I get deeper into this thing, I realized his dad is the guy. I’m not saying this to sh*t on Eddie, I’m just being honest. I don’t dislike Eddie, but he’s not the guy. I love to compete, and if you say you wanna compete with me I look at competing as a fight,” Hearn said.

Hearn and White have traded plenty of shots at each other. It's not just MMA that has noticed White, either. Boxing promoters see him as a threat too, given the business he has built.
