"His Dad Built That Business": Dana White Blasts Eddie Hearn

Dana White just went off on Eddie Hearn again, staying true to their ongoing rivalry, the UFC CEO called Hearn weak and discredited his business.
The promotional rivalry between UFC Chief Executive Officer Dana White and Matchroom Boxing chairman Eddie Hearn just hit a whole new level of personal. During an appearance on Steven Bartlett's The Diary of a CEO podcast, White pulled zero punches when evaluating Hearn’s standing in combat sports, claiming the British promoter lacks the edge of his predecessor.
"Eddie Hearn is weak... His dad built that business. His dad’s a real guy," White said, referencing Matchroom founder Barry Hearn. White didn't stop there, contrasting Eddie Hearn with longtime rival Queensberry Promotions head Frank Warren. "And I see it in Frank Warren … Frank Warren is a real guy. And I'm not saying this to s**t on Eddie, I'm just being honest, and I don't dislike Eddie, I don't dislike him, but he's not the guy, his dad's the guy and Frank Warren."
Boxing Feuds and Promotional Warfare
The biting comments come amidst heated contractual jockeying over mega-fights across boxing and combat sports, where White's venture into boxing alongside heavyweights like Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury has drawn pushback from Matchroom. While Hearn has asserted that existing promotional contracts bar White and the UFC parent company from co-promoting certain events, White insists Hearn’s posturing is more about self-preservation than savvy business.
To White, the distinction between self-made promoters who built empires from scratch and second-generation executives taking over established operations is vast. Barry Hearn built Matchroom into a sports powerhouse over decades of hard work, while Warren fought his way through the cutthroat world of European fight promotion. Though White insists he harbors no personal malice toward Hearn, his unfiltered critique makes one thing clear: in the high-stakes fight game, respect is earned in the trenches, not handed down through a family legacy.
