Sean Brady revealed whether Din Thomas will be in his corner for his fight against Gabriel Bonfim after the coach’s controversial remarks about Gillian Robertson.
One man who got the most attention after UFC 330 was Din Thomas, although not for the reasons he would have wanted. He found himself at the center of criticism as he announced his retirement from coaching just hours after his fighter, Gillian Robertson, lost the title fight against Mackenzie Dern in the co-main event.
Thomas announced his retirement in Paramount's post-show Deep Waters. The timing of announcing the retirement was off; many felt Thomas suggested that the fight represented as far as Robertson could have gone in her career. His comments ignited a series of criticisms from prominent figures in the MMA community, such as Jon Anik and middleweight champion Sean Strickland.
More recently, Thomas expressed that he is keeping his door open to cornering UFC welterweight Sean Brady for his fight against Gabriel Bonfim. Interestingly, Brady remains skeptical of having Thomas in his corner for his next fight.
Sean Brady opens up on Din Thomas’ future in his corner following recent outburst
Speaking with MMA journalist Ariel Helwani, Brady discussed Thomas's recent comments, acknowledged them, and expressed disagreement with the coach’s remark.
He also emphasized that the former fighter should have handled it privately rather than shared it publicly. At the same time, he argued that the backlash went too far.
“The thing with Din is, I do not agree with what Din said and how he said it online,” Brady told the Ariel Helwani Show. “I think that maybe shouldn’t have been said and I feel like Din regrets what he said and how he said it… I feel like that’s definitely something I’d want said to me in private. I don’t think it’s fair for everyone to stack on him like they have.”
The welterweight contender praised Thomas for the support he has provided to him and his team over the years. He confirmed that he plans to continue working with him, but remains unsure whether he will be in his corner for his scheduled fight, and he expressed that he is willing to have him.
“I love Din. Din has flown up to Philly multiple times and never asked me for anything. He’s done a lot of good things for me and my team,” Brady said. “I’m still gonna be working with Din. I don’t know if he’s gonna be in my corner… If he wants to be in my corner, I will gladly have him.”

Gillian Robertson refuses to accept Din Thomas’ apology
In the Deep Waters show, Thomas publicly apologized to Robertson and emphasized that he will be there whenever she needs him, and expressed his feelings and apologized.
Robertson later addressed the situation via text message to Helwani. While she stated she was unaware that Thomas would announce his retirement and make those comments, she revealed that the coach had sent an apology privately. Still, she chose not to respond because she feels the former fighter apologized publicly solely for the TV ratings.
