Uros Medic believes he can beat Carlos Prates: "I can knock this guy out"
The UFC welterweight fighter believes his aggressive style could make for a memorable matchup against the Brazilian.
Carlos Prates has quickly established himself as one of the most dangerous strikers in the UFC, but one of his fellow fighters believes he has the perfect style to challenge the Brazilian. Currently sitting at No. 14 in the welterweight division, Uros Medic has expressed his desire to eventually share the Octagon with Prates, claiming he would not back down from the Brazilian's aggression and that he could even knock him out.
Uros Medic Ready to Strike with Prates
Known for his deadly striking, Prates had a long career in Muay Thai and kickboxing before signing with the UFC. Since he joined the promotion, all of his UFC victories have come by knockout or TKO. Medic is confident he would do well in this situation. Speaking to Full Send MMA, the Serbian fighter praised Prates as a "samurai warrior" while claiming he has the antidote for his striking, and that means not backing down from the exchange.
"I would love to cross paths with Carlos Prates at some point," Medic began. "That man, he is a true samurai warrior, he comes to fight and he will die. [...] People would be surprised how well I would do against him, because I am the type of fighter that meets the fire with fire. And you have seen what happens when fighters back out from Carlos, he just knocks them out. [...] But I am not the type of fighter that will back out."
Uros Medic Claims He Can Knock Out Prates
"The Doctor" is actually so confident in his own abilities that he believes he could beat Prates at his own game. The Serbian fighter recalled watching UFC fights before joining the promotion and feeling that he belonged inside the Octagon with those fighters. In his opinion, he would be able to knock out Prates in a fight fans would remember for a long time.
"Before I got signed with the UFC I watched these fights on television and I'm like 'I can fight these guys'," Medic said. "And I have that same feeling about him. I watch his fights and I am like 'bro, I can knock this guy out'. [...] If the opportunity presents itself, I think that will be one of those fights to be remembered forever."
If the matchup eventually comes together, Medic believes it could become one of the most memorable fights of his career. However, before envisioning a bout against the Brazilian, The Doctor first has to get past Daniel Rodriguez. Medic is expected to face the American at UFC Belgrade on Saturday.
