Uros Medic Makes Quick Work of Daniel Rodriguez Saturday Night

Uros Medic (14-3 MMA, 8-3 UFC) has had one constant on fight nights of late: Quick days at the office. Heading into UFC Belgrade earlier Saturday evening, Medic, who was fighting this in his home country of Serbia, was on a three-fight winning streak.

All three of those wins were recorded before the horn to end the opening round of the fight had blared. Medic, the No. 14 contender at 170 lbs, was booked to fight No. 15 contender Daniel Rodriguez (20-6 MMA, 10-5 UFC) in the headlining fight of the event.

Although this contest was scheduled for an advertised five rounds at five minutes per round inside Belgrade Arena, Uros Medic only needed less than a full minute to cap the night's activities in the UFC's first-ever visit to Serbia.

Lightning-Fast Knockout by Uros Medic Closes Record-Setting Night

Within moments of the command to fight being given by referee Jason Herzog, Uros Medic absorbed a low kick from Daniel Rodriguez, nearly dropping him. From there, Medic unleashed a vicious combination, including an overhand right.

With Rodriguez having been knocked down from his opponent's strikes, Uros Medic scored with a quick flurry of ground and pound shots. Jason Herzog quickly intervened, calling a halt to the proceedings.

"There it is! 'The Doctor's' in!", exclaimed Jon Anik, who worked UFC Belgrade as lead commentator. "Uros Medic, what a moment in Serbia!"

The victorious Uros Medic finished his fourth straight opponent inside the opening round on Saturday night. Time of the knockout: 30 seconds into the fight. This stoppage by Medic also set a modern-era UFC record for most finishes at a single event with 12. Of the 12 stoppages, 10 were recorded inside the opening five minutes of action, main event included.

With the victory on Saturday night, Uros Medic received a $50,000 (USD) cash advance for the Performance of the Night bonus at the post-fight press conference. It's his second post-fight bonus in succession, after having pocketed $50,000 for the Performance of the Night following his win over Geoff Neal in February of this year.

Upon taking the microphone for his post-fight interview with Michael Bisping, Uros Medic made certain to issue a challenge to one of his compatriots at welterweight, pausing for a round of applause from the partisan crowd in Belgrade.

"I asked for Leon Edwards," Uros Medic said. "I think he's still in hiding. If he decides to come out of the hole he's shoved himself into, I'll gladly be the next to knock him out."

Medic Warns Welterweight Ranks to Stay on Alert

With Uros Medic now having won four fights in succession by knockout, he told his future opponents at 170 to watch out for him on any given fight night, urging the fans in Belgrade Arena to back him.

"I have so many words, I don't think we have enough time tonight," he mentioned. "With that being said, I'm going to cook the rest of this division." This declaration by Uros Medic was met with a chant of his name from the audience.

"With you guys by my side, we're going to bring the belt to Serbia," he exclaimed.
