On Saturday night, Nathaniel Wood proved yet again why he deserves more respect from the UFC. In his hometown, The Last Kingsman extended his winning run four straight with a split decision over promotional newcomer, Losene Keita.
Despite being the underdog, Wood was able to outpoint the former Oktagon champion and is now on the brink of a rankings spot. Some would argue that he deserved a shot at the top 15 prior to this fight, but now he can’t be ignored.
Nathaniel Wood Set for Top 15 Clash
Dangerous Featherweight
After a run at bantamweight, Nathaniel Wood decided that the weight cut was too much, and he decided a weight class move was on the cards. Moving up to 145lbs wasn’t an easy decision, as he’s certainly on the smaller side of the division. Standing at 5’6, Wood was on the wrong side of a three-inch reach disadvantage on Saturday night, and it isn’t going to get any easier.
With his size, however, comes lightning-quick speed. Snapping jabs, lethal calf kicks, and a strong takedown defence have Wood on the search for a ranked opponent next time out, he’s 7-1 at the weight after all…
Who’s Next for London’s Own?
He cannot be denied a rankings spot any longer. The winner of Patricio Pitbull and Aaron Pico will be ranked, with Pitbull currently sitting at #13. Wood could face the winner and the ranked guy.

If this doesn’t come to fruition, book Josh Emmett vs Nathaniel Wood. It’s a fight that makes sense. Emmett is #15 and is 1-5 in his last six. He must now defend his ranking spot against Wood. It’s a fight that would interest Emmett, especially with Wood being the smaller man, but we could see a bull and matador situation, which would have fans on the edge of their seats.
