UFC 329 Will Present One of the Summer's Most Violent Bouts
Hank Strandberg takes a look at the main card opener of UFC 329 set for Saturday night.
UFC 329 is set to feature an electrifying lightweight clash between two of the most entertaining strikers in the division, King Green and Terrance McKinney. Kicking off the main card, these two proven finishers are gearing up for what has all the makings of a Fight of the Night clash.
Green In Midst of One of Best Winning Streaks in Years Ahead of UFC 329
In the beginning of 2025, Green unwillingly played a part in one of the most devastating knockouts of that year at UFC 304, where he was positively starched by Brazilian contender Maurício Ruffy with a magnificent spinning wheel kick. The defeat was his second in a row after previously falling to future interim championship hopeful Paddy Pimblett at UFC 304.
While he was no longer seen as a true elite of the lightweight upper echelon, the Californian would demonstrate that he has a lot more left in the tank as a competitor, ending the year with a narrow split decision victory over promotional newcomer Lance Gibson Jr. at UFC Vegas 112. In 2026, Green has continued to be a terror for those outside the rankings, picking up two more impressive wins over the up-and-coming Daniel Zellhuber and the veteran Jeremy Stephens, stopping both of them before the third.
Sitting at three consecutive triumphs, the Pinnacle MMA product is enjoying the longest win streak of his career in over six years. Should he get his hand raised at UFC 329, an offer to contend for a spot in the top 15 may just come his way in his near future.
Terrance McKinney May Be Most Entertaining One-Round Fighter in UFC
Having not seen the second round in nearly three years, McKinney has made one thing known about him as a fighter: he is either going to stop his opponent in the first five minutes of the bout, or he is going to be stopped in the first five minutes of the bout.
Making his debut back in 2021 at UFC 263, McKinney made an immediate impression on company brass and audiences everywhere by toppling Matt Frevola in just seven seconds with a swift one-two punch combination. The result awarded the Warrior Camp MMA representative a handful of UFC records, such as the fastest finish and knockout in lightweight history.
From here, while he has encountered his fair share of setbacks during his rise, McKinney has managed to make it past a slew of sterling opposition like Farès Ziam, Damir Hadžović, and Kyle Nelson, earning first round stoppages in all of his victories in the Octagon.
Making his second walk to the cage in 2026 at UFC 329, McKinney will meet another stalwart striker in the credentialed Green. Boasting a rare 100 percent finishing rate, “T Wrecks” is looking to keep the judges firmly out of his fight in his pursuit of recording another viral stoppage.
