Battlefield Fight League returns on February 8, 2020, from Vancouver, B.C. The BFL 65 fight card will feature an abundance of title fights.

The main event is not set but has been teased as one of two potential bouts.

Two teased main event bouts

Dejan Kajic will put his super-welterweight title on the line against Julien Leblanc. Kajic (12-7-2, 1 NC) is riding the best wave of his career. The Universal MMA product is currently on a four-fight winning streak, with all four victories coming via knockout. Leblanc (5-1) is coming off the first loss of his career — a fallen decision against Damien Lapilus at TKO 44 in 2018. The 27-year-old did not fight in 2019 but had three bouts fall through.

The other teased main event bout is a battle between middleweight champion Jared Revel and Drayton Angus. Revel (9-2) is on a four-fight winning streak, dating back to mid-2018. Most recently he earned a majority decision against Collin Hart at BFL 61. Angus (7-9) will make his way into enemy territory from Alberta. The 33-year-old is coming off a loss to Rafael Palomeque at Modern FC 4 in November.

The lightweight title on the line

The BFL lightweight champion Achilles Estremadura will look to stay undefeated, as he takes on heavy-handed German Andrej Hodakovski. Estremadura (5-0) has fought all five of his professional bouts under the BFL banner. Most recently, the Checkmat Vancouver product defeated Carson Frei via decision at BFL 63. Hodakovski (2-1) will fight for the first time in his professional career outside of Germany. The featherweight was victorious in his most recent outing, as he tapped out Toni Grande at We Love MMA 40 in 2018.

BFL 65 women’s title fight

East meets West in the first-ever BFL women’s world title fight. Former BFL amateur champion Jamey-Lyn Horth will take on Quebec City’s Jade Masson-Wong. Horth (3-0) will put her unbeaten record on the line in front of her home province. The Squamish native made her way to Quebec for her most recent outing, where she finished Corinne Laframboise by rear-naked choke at TKO 48 in May. Masson-Wong (3-1) is coming off her first career loss. She was choked out by Mandy Böhm, also at TKO 48.

Amateur Championships are on the line too

The amateur 175-pound title will be on the line, as champion Mike Brackett squares off against Kenny Pope. Brackett (6-0) made his BFL debut last month, winning the title at BFL 64 by finishing Phil Lauzon with some nasty ground and pound. Do not let records fool you, the losses on Pope’s (5-6) rap sheet are to some serious talent. The Vernon, B.C. product has an impressive submission game and has utilized that in all but one of his victories.

Derrick Laing will look to capture BFL gold as he takes on Jordan Cabrejos for the amateur middleweight title. Laing (2-0) won the AMA title in June, as he tapped out Stephen Baxter at AMA 35. Cabrejos (3-1-1) is riding a two-fight winning streak, with his most recent victory coming against Will Grieves at Extreme Fighting Challenge in August. This will be a rematch of their BFL 57 bout, where Laing won via armbar in the second round.

Make sure you are in attendance for this historic event. BFL 65 kicks off 2020 on February 8 from Vancouver, B.C.
