ONE Championship returned to Bangkok for the second A New Breed event on Friday, September 11. The six-bout event was split evenly between mixed martial arts contests and ONE Super Series action.

The bantamweight Muay Thai main event between Pongsiri PK.Saenchai Muaythaigym and Ireland’s Sean “Clubber” Clancy lived up to the hype.

Pongsiri started strongly by backing Clancy to the ropes and scoring with punches and elbows. Clancy stood in the pocket to respond, but the first round was taken by the Thai striker. In the second round, Pongsiri dropped Clancy after a strong right elbow followed a crisp left hook.

Clancy would not go away and responded with a strong third round showing. It wouldn’t be enough, however, and Pongsiri would take the decision nod.

The co-main event featured #2-ranked flyweight kickboxing contender Superlek “The Kicking Machine” Kiatmoo9 taking on Fahdi “The Gladiator” Khaled.

After getting stung in the first round by Khaled, Superlek showed superior defense in the final two rounds to take a closely-contested decision against the Tunisian striker. Superlek’s kicking game took away Khaled’s lead strike and put distance between the two leaving him missing strikes down the stretch.

In the evening’s most memorable finish, 16-year-old Supergirl Jaroonsak Muaythai leveled Milagros Lopez with a right cross early in their bout to announce her presence on the global scene. The younger sister of Wondergirl Fairtex looks to be a superstar in the making.

In mixed martial arts action, three bouts saw three submission finishes.

Witchayakorn Niamthanom made quick work of Khalid Friggini on the canvas as he sunk in a rear-naked choke just 2:11 into the first round of their lightweight meeting. In the following lightweight contest, Abu Muslim Alikhanov showed superior grappling with repeated takedowns of Pascal Jaskiewiez before submitting the Frenchman with an ankle lock.

In the final mixed martial arts bout, a catchweight affair, Brogan Stewart-Ng took Prach Buapa to the mat after eating a few punches and sunk-in a rear-naked choke of his own while flattening the Thai athlete out. The tap came quickly, and Stewart-Ng picked up a solid victory in his ONE debut.
