Josh Emmett has called his shot.

The number six ranked featherweight, Emmett took to Twitter on Wednesday morning and wants a number one contender fight against the former champion Max Holloway.

“You know everyone’s been asking me what’s next?” Emmett said on Twitter. “I want a clear shot to the title. The best path there is fighting the number one contender and that’s Max Holloway.”

Emmett (19-4) is coming off one of the most impressive performances of his career. A first-round knockout against Bryce Mitchell at UFC 296 this past December. He landed a nasty punch that dropped Mitchell and just walked off. The Team Alpha Male product has arguably the heaviest punches in the division and will look to showcase that once again en route to a title shot.

Holloway (25-7) is ranked number one in the division and fought twice in 2023. Earning a unanimous decision early in the year against Arnold Allen and then followed up with a TKO over Chan Sung Jung at UFC Singapore.

The only losses Holloway has since 2019 came at the hands of Alexander Volkanovski. And Emmett was riding a five-fight winning streak from 2019-2022, and then lost back to back contests to Yair Rodriguez and Ilia Topouria in early 2023.

Is this a fight you’d like to see happen in 2024?
