KSW continues to roll along with KSW 60 announced for Saturday, April 24, 2021, in Poland. After a solid showing with KSW 59 in March, the organization will look to top their last outing with a battle of champions. In a rematch of their KSW 47 bout, heavyweight champion Phil de Fries will battle light heavyweight champion Tomasz Narkun in De Fries’ fifth title defense.
The Rematch
Phil de Fries (18-6) has been the king of the KSW heavyweight division since his first day. His debut bout was against champion Michal Andryszak at KSW 43, where he became the new champion. Since then, de Fries has defeated four other foes to remain champion. His most-recent defense came at KSW 57 in December 2020, where he retained his title on a first-round TKO finish. Able to finish the fight by any means necessary, de Fries has two KO/TKOs, one submission, and two decision victories under the KSW banner. One of those decision victories came against Tomasz Narkun, the first man to get a second chance at the division’s king.
KSW light heavyweight champion Tomas Narkun (18-3) will get a second chance at becoming a KSW “champ champ” as he hopes to have a different outcome against de Fries at KSW 60. Since the loss, Narkun has won both of his bouts by submission victory, successfully defending his light heavyweight crown yet again. His most recent outing was a second-round rear-naked choke victory at KSW 56 in November 2020. Narkun earned the shot against de Fries after defeating KSW legend Mamed Khalidov in back-to-back bouts. Only getting better in the cage, Narkun will hope the improvements he’s made in his game will be rewarded with more gold.
Early Look at the Rest of KSW 60
KSW 60’s co-main event will feature Marian Ziolkowski (22-8-1) defending his newly-won lightweight title against top-contender Maciej Kazieczko (7-1). Ziolkowski won the title in a vacant title battle with Roman Szymanski at KSW 57 after Mateusz Gamrot vacated the title to sign with the UFC.
Also on the card is an interesting heavyweight battle with Polish pro boxer Izuagbe Ugonoh (1-0 MMA, 18-6 Boxing) taking on the newly-signed undefeated Norweigan striker Thomas Narmo (4-0). Ugonoh defeated the previously undefeated Quentin Domingos at KSW 54 in his MMA debut. With an acting career and superstar status in Norway, Narmo will look to continue his domination moving south into Poland. This bout is absolutely a clash of future title contenders.
